My thoughts on the contenders:

Gadret - Maybe a top 10.
Rujano - The Rujano of last year has a good shot at taking this but he's in the same boat as...
JRod - Maybe the second best climber in the world, though nothing for consistency. If he can and Rujano can avoid running out of gas, they would have such great shots. These two are so alike sometimes.
Scarponi - He looked great last year. Not Contador great, but great for a human. I think he has a great shot, especially if the two above stay inconsistent.
Schleck -I wouldn't take Frank over Scarponi. He sucks in the TT and has some great mountain days once in a while. I don't know where he really can gain a good amount of time.
Kreuziger - Hah. Maybe top 10?
Ryder - Hah. Maybe top 10?
Basso - I'll admit that I'm uninformed about Basso. I saw him do a good tour or two in the Lance days but I didn't watch alot of the 2010 Giro and he hasn't been great since then. My gut tells me top 10, if he makes it through.
Cunego - Eh top 10 I guess. He's been one of those guys who hasn't really impressed me and Scarp is going to be better.

Frank being in it makes the Giro a little more interesting, but I'm not that hyped for it this year. I thought last year's Giro was untouchable. This year would be a great year for some no namer to take it.

This is a pi$$ poor analysis.

IMHO is a constructive post and it's what a forum needs.

-----------------------------------------------------------

My bet is Scarponi for the win, Basso and Frank flopping big and Kreuziger for the podium.

I think you have got something very wrong there, they couldn't be more different as riders.

About Basso i am glad that you admit some lack of knowledge about him. If he is in shape he will have no problems dropping everyone on that list cept scarponi and rujano.

Imo those 3 will fight it out for the win and the rest will be a level bellow.

I assume Basso will take this. Scarponi and Kreuziger in any order complete the podium. Scarponi needs to attack, but judging by 2010 and 2011 he can't do that. He won't be able to win by waiting for Basso's failing. Rujano will win maglia azzuro..

Best hope for a belgian is Meersman, Bakelants will have to work for Schleck as Seeldrayers will have to do for Kreuziger.

De Clerq well as others said we didn't hear anything from him again after his win..and he won because the others didn't react fast enough (remember they just came on his rear wheel at the finish). De Greef will be first in the GC at 25th position.

I wish Vanendert should have gone to Il Giro, he's in form and must be able to get a top 10 in GC. All the more since he says himself he doesn't like the TDF that much and will go there mainly in support for VDB (and maybe the Climbers jersey?)

Well yeah I think Meersman can win a stage. Or maybe De Gendt if he got some crazy day like in Paris-Nice.

Bakelants will have to work for Schleck. But last year he was 23th so you never know if he can do better this year. Maybe it will depends how good Schleck is. But Radioshack got Hermans too. That guy isn't a bad climber. Just hope he will stay injury free for 3 weeks.

Oh well and Seeldraeyers he wasn't that good in the Tour De Romandie. He didn't bad in the Giro Del Trentino. But i don't know if he will do well in the Giro.

De Clercq well yeah we will see what he will do this year. De Greef will do the same like every year finishing between place 20 and 25.

Maybe Vanendert must ride the Vuelta as well. A lot of mountain stages so that suits him. Same for VDB. But I believe VDB wants to ride the Vuelta or he's thinking about to ride the Vuelta.

Too bad Team NetApp didn't selected Baugnies. I wanted to see what that guy could do in the Giro.

This is strange, are you snubbing Brother Schleck?

I don't know if someone has already predicted this, but I see Frank Schleck crashing sometime in the first 3 stages and withdrawing from the race, regardless of the severity of his injuries.
