It seems both Nibali and Cunego (!) are likely to go to the Giro (rumours...). If that's true, the only italian big gun that won't race is Petacchi.
edit: the one of Cunego is not a rumour. He said it himself in his site's forum. He'll do the classics as a preparation for the Giro apparently

perhaps a bit optimistic but if its the latter, theres a small chance he could outperform principe like he did in Il Lombardia, if Principe isnt feeling too good or something that is.

I think both Scarponi and Cunego will race the Giro. What is not clear is who'll be in top shape and who won't.

He was scheduled for Pais Vasco and went for training on Teide instead. Basso has seven race days so far. It's the same like in 2010 when Liquigas had to prepare Nibali for the Giro in case Pelizotti would be banned. So yes, it is not official yet. But very likely.

lol why are you so afraid that andy won't have anymore a contador up with him when he will attack the time trial powerhouses?if bruyneel's plan goes as expected he can do it,difficult but possible,of course he will have to do 20+ more watts on every mountain than in 2010.the competition is still fierce now.don't worry,cobo and westra will be there with him dancing on the mountains.also rolland plus some extra surprises i would guess.


regarding liquigas,i'm a big basso fan but giro should be won by some other guys now(rujanoooo).nibali probably can podium again in il giro but i'm pretty sure he can't do a top 5 in le tour

No, it is irrelevant to the situation with Andy. I'd like to see them in the Tour decorations to compare the Giro and the Tour climbers' level. We discussed that with you in one of the threads. As for Andy I have no fear and feel very positively. I shudder to think what devilishly big difference between him and other climbers will be if he will be able to reproduce 2010 form. La Toussuire will be exploded and lava will flow despite on the fact there's no volcano. It will be a very entertaining Tour.

Same here, we the form he has this year, it will be a waste not to see him at the Tour. Plus he adds so much to the whole story/drama/tactics.
