this team is so bad I can't describe it. what a disgrace to send this to the giro. the wt should be like 12 or 14 teams and all the rest pct. only few teams have a worthwhile selection for 3 gt's in a year

yep, good idea.

this is what i actually said few posts earlier. We should really have like 10-12 automatic indisputable invites and all the rest as wildcards.

Totally agree the Lotto team is a disgrace, FDJ is exciting though it will be nice to see Demare at a big race

the fdjexu team sucks too and demare won't win a stage. this isn't some small race. here are topsprinters

GE, Sky or Garmin will win though, with their bloody sprint train teams.

Sky sqaud isn't only very sprint orientated though ;) It's expected to be this.

- Mark Cavendish
- Bent Swift
- Daivde Appollonio
- Geraint Thomas
- Rigo Uran
- Sergio Henao
- KonstantinSiustou
- Peter Kennaugh
- ? A helper like Barry/ Dowsett ( if recoverd from borken arm )/Zandio etc.

maybe we have to wait and see what he might do, because in Qatar, when he won, there were almost all the top sprinters, although the sprint was disrupted by the crash, he nevertheless showed an incredible acceleration when he started his sprint.

That was more of a final k attack. And the only sprinters who weren't eliminated by the crash were Renshaw and Galimzyanov... not really the cream of the sprinting crop.

Eisel said back in January that he'd be doing the Giro but things might have changed since then.

7 of Astana's 9 riders confirmed:

Kreuziger
Kessiakoff
Kangert
Petrov
Seeldraeyers
Dyachenko
Tiralongo

Ponzi will probably be included as well I think.

I'm not sure about Kessiakoff anymore, today he posted this on his website. Hopefully he'll ride!

I don't know if it has been posted but Gustav Larsson will do Giro+Tour.

That team will indeed make even Saxo Banks giro team this year look great. Possibly one of the worst GT-teams of very long time.

So completely stupid that these teams has the right to race all 3 GTs, when they clearly are not capable and other great teams has to sitout of all.

Yep, changed (for the worse) in 2005 with the introduction of the ProTour. At least we only have 18 now and room for 4-5 wildcards, when they first brought it in there were 20 PT teams if I remember correctly

I think Dominique Rollin said that all five canadians in the World Tour will start the Giro, which means Barry will make the squad for Sky.

Yeah, Barry was down for Giro, but his health is a bit up in the air. It it possibly. but he won't have raced since breaking his elbow on Feb 8th.

Pretty sure Stannard was on the Giro list, but again that may have changed when Uran's plans changed.

I think the Giro is looking good for Rujano who's form was okay enough in Trentino, whereas Scarponi was awful and Basso's not great. In fact if Ivan doesn't go well in Romandie he may not even start in Italy. Cunego has good preparations for a good Giro, but I think that Jose would have his measure slightly on the climbs. Maybe Nibali will make a late decision to race in Italy seeing as it could be so winnable for him?

I thought Basso, looked a little overweight, but he certainly found good rythmn climbing in the last stage. He went at his pace, didn't crack and didn't finish too far off the pace. Scarponi was clearly in conservation mode, but to me didn't look comfortable.

rujano is currently like 70%. he was 50% in settimana and will be 85-90 when giro starts. roughly said of course. what I mean is he's the same shape as last year except his basic level is a lot higher. he ie at leats 5-10% stronger overall. whuich is also what rujano said in an interview when he left venezuela one month ago. he had the best winter of his carere and the guy has just turned 30 he still improves. it is looking better and better with every day. now we can only hope for him to stay healthy and have good weather in the giro.
