Evans has a good chance today. If he does win it would mean more work for Nibali and Astana. Yesterday Sky attacked, today if Evans does it then another tiring day for Astanas. Works in favor of Sky. Astana sure would be hoping for a breakaway to win and the GC guys staying put.

The only way I can see Evans winning today boils down to Sky setting the train in motion from km zero. Astana simply doesn't have the team strength (right now) to put the GC contenders in a stage winning position.

Lots of riders wants to be in the break today.

Did the valley before Stelvio last year not lend itself to tactical games?

A man up the road would be helpful on the last climb but even more so in the valley before the last climb.

that was after terrifiying mortiorllo. not today

Fair point but then Sky doesnt have much incentive to set the train rolling today. Ideally they can sit back for a few days with the GC guys...see how Wiggins manages and if Wiggo fails to hold on again (which is a very realistic scenario now) then back Uran and let him attack in some of the forthcoming climbing stages and go for the Pink.

Seriously doubt if Wiggins will win the Giro this year. He is just not upto it. Whether this is a temporary thing or not will also set the tone for the Tour and for the Wiggins vs Froome leadership battle :)

This stage, places where I used to train a lot...absolutely beautiful landscapes!

If the GC contenders don't go ballistic in an epic breakway ride, they will all end together I suspect...quite an easy last part of the stage if I may say.

Sky have the power to do something. But will they?

Next 3 stages have no GC potential unfortunately. :( Just as it was getting interesting.

That's BS. He could have finished a second behind him and still have let him won.

ugh, the lack of cycling knowledge is baffling again. do you think betancurt knew he would ride away solo when he attacked? of course not, so he would've endangered uran, had he gone furhter down

I'm not sure but isn't the finish somewhere near the place where that dam disaster happened? It was somewhere northern of Belluno iirc.

That is correct. That would be the Vajont Dam which became the Vajont Disaster. The tragedy happened in 1963 - 50 years ago this year - which is likely a reason why the Giro visit Vajont this year.

Will Sky roll the train out and try to control the race? Fail if they do, but it is the only tactic they know.

I love some sky bashing but don't say that the day after they won the stage on a slightly different way ;)
