Same as the one posted in post 465?

Yeah, didn't see that at the time or know they changed it.

They'll be more tweaks to other stages, I'm sure of it. They are only provisional anyway.

As it is always the case. That's why this time I'll wait for everything to be definitive before writing my route analysis ;)

I live in that land and i'm glad they change first route.it was too bad and easy.
now there will be 3 little climbs that will make it tough and more spectacular
There's already a tough and spectacular ITT, on the Grappa. This one, otoh, was the only chance for the chubby guys to gain time... instead as it happens more and more often they will only get a big middle finger from the organisers.
Now that we know Porte won't race, it doesn't matter much anymore, but with him in this was a key stage. Now it will feature "massive gaps" of less than 30 sec between the favourites, which are the mighty TTers Rodriguez and Quintana. Being this the case, they'll try to win the Giro on bonus seconds on the gazillion top finishes.

Not exactly a promising situation.

Since when did Quintana try to win things with the bonus seconds? Purito's range is fairly limited, granted, but Nairito has been attacking from distance throughout his career.

Since when is Quintana used to have a concrete shot at winning a GT? I don't think he and Movistar will be eager to risk everything with a long range attack, when most likely he'll never be more than 30-40 seconds behind Purito during the whole race.

And he can't afford to do a longe attack. Because he doesn't fight against Mollema or Fuglsang, but against Rodriguez, the 3th of the Tour.

Purito and Nairo where quite as good in the Alps last year. And they will both arrive really fresh at the Giro. So i predict it will not be as simple for Quintana to win this. He's the favorite, but it will be a fight.

I live there too, the national road from Baraccone into Alba is flat and boring, glad they go over the hill via Treiso and back on the other side

yes I agree. It might be the only chance to see specialists, however 40km flat in industrial zones in a land full of hills (some climbs are difficult even for pro) gave me a little'' nuisance''. : P

However, the new route is still ''easy'' after all: the road to Manera is a kind of false flat apart from the last few kms,, and the ascent of Castiglione Falletto is very easy. Same thing for Barolo even tougher.
Then short descent to the eye that connects to Barolo Castiglione: steep, narrow road
:):)

The first route was the worst that could draw: D

Purito would still manage to lose a grand tour against Fuglsang or Mollema ...

What a load of bull. If I understand it correctly the points jersey will be similar to the green jersey in the Tour with more points on offer on flat stages. Booh!

Imo the current system for both jerseys were perfect. If they wanted the GC riders to win the climber's jersey, they could've gone back to MTFs awarding more points.

Exactly.
Totally unnecessary, since this year we'll get a ****load of bunch sprints anyway.

I have to refine my earlier estimate...

Quintana will never be more than 20 seconds behind Purito during the whole race.

:eek::eek:

And if they were sick of GC contenders winning the points jersey easily they could have had more rouleur stages. Although reducing the time bonuses may have that effect as well anyway.

Purito only (small) chance has disappeared. Now he can win with off-form Quintana only.
I hope this won't happen and Don Nairo will crush them by minutes. :D

(i was joking ofc, quintana's leadership and pressure yet has to be tested)
