they're wrong, imho

What do they gain by allowing the favourite, Quintana, to strengthen his position and put a teammate in a threatening GC position?

Sunweb is clearly the weakest team for the mountains, it was a good chance to isolete and then atttack him

They will still see racing Quintana as racing to win and view Dumoulin as a secondary issue.

Cross your fingers: teams aspiring to a top-5 might chase Amador "on behalf of" Sunweb
As expected
Yeah....

Landani only testing legs now, I think that was the whole point of that move. Can win already on Oropa if Movi catches the break.

Landa is a great, but also weird rider. That's why he's so interesting to follow!

But this is actually a smart move. He put Fraile into sleep, and he's on his own now. Now he can just ride his own tempo.

If it continues like this, Nibali will take it.
My only pick of double digits odds in hypothetical betting.

Edit:
Speaking rubbish...
The peloton won'tr catch the group.

FDJ pulling the peloton ? Ridiculous tactics as if it wasn't enough for Tibopino to make a fool of himself yesterday !

Stage 11 and they're already protecting their places, pathetic. It's Amador ffs.

It's not only protecting their current position, it's preventing the favourite from strengthening his position. It's completely reasonable. They aren't fans watching for entertainment.
I don't really think it will strengthen Quintana to have Amador in pink. He would have to have a big lead to be more dangerous. Short of that, it could perhaps seed doubt in Movistar, say if Amador gets in pink with 40'' to Tom.
