No, there isn't. Let Dumoulin do the work for you and have a rest for a while. Amador will have buried himself for Quintana, so he won't be an issue. I feel there's still a fairly large gap after 10 minutes or so, then they'll begin to help. But that's 10-15 minutes of Dumoulin having to work at the front by himself tiring himself out. It's stupid not to try anything from Quintana or at least put Dumoulin under pressure, because he probably won't crack on the Umbrail. He may, but he probably won't.

With some of the other teams helping on the front, could they not have interest in staying as close to Quintana in the coming mountain stages to give them a chance of knocking him off the podium in the TT in Milan? Either that or Quintana is gonna go ballistic on Umbrail.

Just like Alberto and Andy on Alpe d'Huez stage in 2011.
I missed how they had three teammates pull for them...

They didn't. That's why they got caught in the valley and ended up completely wasting all that energy. Andy would have been better off gas on Alpe.
But then what does this have to do with this situation in the giro. Quintana wouldn't have had to do any work in the valley.

Nairo should at the bare minimum tried a speculative attack to see who could follow. Maybe a few GC men can follow and he ends up with unexpected allies, plus his 3 teammates. This would've been a powerful position and to try it wastes very little.

I think both sides are right, but still it was stupid to think from Quintanas side, that nobody will do the chase only Sunweb. If this goes a way like this then today was a huge miss and their only result will be that Amador, Anacona and Izagirre will be more tired and Quintana will be more far from winning the Giro. But I cheer for Dumoulin, so keep up the good work Movistar!
i think all that work might come to zero

Allies are not so important from this point on.

This only makes sense if Nibali and Pinot wouldn't help, which would not make sense. And if you have something to gain as Jungels, Mollema etc. not joining the chase on the flat would be stupid. Your argument clearly runs against the reality of the race. This isn't modal logic where you can simply make something up and declare it real.
