Honestly didn't think of that one when I came up with my suggestion, but I think it's just such an easy decision to use Duran+Staulanza+Fedaia/Giau mid-to late stage.

And as RR says Duran+Staulanza+Fedaia/Giau is not a hard thing for race designers. Climb San Pellegrino since the stage starts in Moena and finish with descending Sella since stage finishes in Ortisei.

Also:
San Pellegrino-Duran-Cibiana-Giau-Fedaia-Sella is another option but the stage would be around 175 kms if I am not mistaken

Why couldn't they start at 11.45 with Giro Extra to start the real broadcast at 12.00 pm?
