excellent win. didnt get to watch the race (havent been on th enet in days, in sydney to watch neth vs aus in soccer.. sniejder is even more awesome in real life :D) but boy was i happy to see him rewarded for all his hard riding this year.

Luckily he only had to outsprint the massively overrated Jakob Fuglsang to take it.

Who is massively overrating Fugslang btw? Just out of interest :p

He's had a very good year, only the Vuelta was a dissapointment, as he was going for the overall prior, but had to settle to try stage wins (and finishing 2nd...) early.

I'm personally all over the Fuglsang bandwagon. But it was more of an in-joke between Timmy and myself. We had a couple of arguments during the Vuelta about Jakob, and Timmy thought he was overrated.

GP Beghelli

1. Francisco Ventoso
2. Giovanni Visconti

Sprint of large group. Vinokourov tried to get away again but was caught in the final descent.
Visconti also new continental tour leader. However, Casper is riding PT today and Van Hummel is riding Sluitingsprijs next week so it's still very tight between those 3

It's true that there is no official definition but you'll never hear anyone from those 5 countries refer to Finland and Iceland as part of Scandinavia. That's just misconceptions.

Part of the problem is there is a term for all five countries in each language (In swedish it's "Norden" meaning The North) which is an official definition and has for a long time had various treaties between the included countries. But since the english equivalent term "Nordic Countries" hasn't really caught on, english speakers have instead mistakenly used the term Scandinavia to refer to Finland and Iceland as well.
I can't speak for any countries, but Denmark. In Denmark however the term Scandinavia is occasionally used to include Finland. As I said it doesn't really matter, you just have to realize that if you say "Scandinavia" people might not think you mean what you really mean. I'll agree that I have never heard Iceland included in Scandinavia.

Like Mellow Velo said, not very tactical to post another recent result in a different topic...

I wish they'd broadcast the Emilia more, it's a tough race, the victors of the last 10 years show it all:
2009 · Robert Gesink
2008 · Danilo Di Luca
2007 · Fränk Schleck
2006 · Davide Rebellin
2005 · Gilberto Simoni
2004 · Ivan Basso
2003 · José Iván Gutiérrez
2002 · Francesco Casagrande
2001 · Jan Ullrich
2000 · Gilberto Simoni

lol i say he shouldn't have been rated a serious GT contender at the vuelta and this guy never forgets about it. I always said he was talented and will be very good. Just that he shouldn't be considered a serious GT contender yet... get a grip mate :rolleyes:

Nope i think he is very talented, was just pointing out in the vuelta that people who were saying he would seriously contend a GT already were overrating his abilities. I agree he is a talent, I just doubted his ability to contend the vuelta in his debut GT.

Did anyone say that? I didn't hear anything except a possible top 10. Of cause he didn't make that either, but that might have been because of the crash.

GP Beghelli.
Warm, mid 20's Clear blue skies and very green trees. Falling leaves and the season about to end?

Nice, pretty little, in the valley circuit, with a 3km, 6% climb.

3 man break for much of the race. ISD's Simon Clarke, a man of the season, Christophe Riblon and......yes....that man again Vino!
Final climb, slender lead. Vino turns on the power and drops his breakaway buddies like hot potatoes.
Gets all the way to the 4km mark, before getting caught by the bunch.

Gianni Visconti again, but just pipped into second, in the large bunch sprint, by Francisco Ventoso.

Just Piemonte and Lombardy to go.....

Quite an impressive list of winners, with my fav Gibo in there twice!:) Yep, this race needs much more exposure.

2009 · Robert Gesink ==> clean
2008 · Danilo Di Luca ==> doping
2007 · Fränk Schleck ==> clean
2006 · Davide Rebellin ==> doping
2005 · Gilberto Simoni ==> cocaine
2004 · Ivan Basso ==> doping
2003 · José Iván Gutiérrez ==> clean
2002 · Francesco Casagrande ==> doping
2001 · Jan Ullrich ==> doping
2000 · Gilberto Simoni ==> cocaine

This is how relative the impressive list of winners is. Although i don't really want to think about doping when talking about cycling; it regularly pops into my mind when scrolling through the list winners of any major race: half of these winners of the last 15 years are dirty in some way.

beat me to it il_fiammingo ;)

Still love Gibo's work though and my recollection is his cocaine use was "non-sporting" so not quite in the same category as the others.

I think "raging bull" Gutierrez was under Puerto suspicion the year he rode top 10 in the Giro?
