I dont reckon anybody was bothered apart from Gilbert, the rest didnt turn up.

Milan - Sanremo is better because nobody knows who's going to win at any stage.

Hard, hard race in horrible conditions.
It may not have been the most exciting of classics, but it was far better than the rubbish we now have to wait 4 months to get served up with.

Kudos to Gilbert for winning in those adverse conditions-the strongest with a bit of luck always prevails-plus I can't stand Scarponi at all

I agree. Organisers won't make a mistake with route again and keep the race route the same as usual. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Mollema finished 12th or something. Totally collapsed on the San Fermo, apparently. But well done, Bauke.

Yes, Better 12th after trying his best to win, than some invisible wheelsucking and a 5th.

But without Scarponi sharing the work for those 12 kms he would not have built up that lead over the group.

Scarponi's chain came off - when did we last see that in a GT? ;)

As far as I could tell Gilbert somehow found himself in the lead in that crazy descent, and only Scarponi was close enough to do anything, then they rode for a while caressing each other until Scarponi screwed up his gear or something, which probably didn't change anything anyway, and Gilbert won by default. Boring.

Still, gotta give it to Gilbert, he was the strongest. It's not easy to win when you're the overwhelming favourite, and he's spent roughly the last month and a half doing exactly that.

A very good summary of the race.

It was a war of attrition, but I thought the final 30 k or so were quite entertaining. But this course change... meh, I liked it better before.

The Mighty Japan Cup still looms.

cbf! the season is over and i can't wait for next year.

it is not good to end on such a low note to a season with an average race. Lets go to a velodrome and watch riders race 1000 laps of that!

so, scarponi was second, and thereby secures a spot in the TdF for Androni? Can anyone confirm that this is true? Great news, in my book..
