To be honest even with 10 or 15 minutes I think there is a good chance that they won't get to the finish

Looks like there are 170+ riders who fancy their chances against Contador and Rujano on Monte Zoncolan

Exactly. On Zoncolan all conventions involving time gaps are futile.

I'd be surprised if Contador doesn't finish solo today. But hey, that's just me.

Not because weather but teams were against that they cant support riders for 37.5km or something like that :D

The "sporting" reason is a lame excuse. The safety reason is a legit one, though only if it is wet. The sporting nonsense is garbage.

Temperatues were subzero at ski station level this morning, combine this with damp roads after all the showers the Dolomiti had yesterday means ice, ice and 19mm slicks don't mix!!

Maybe the sporting reason is that Contador and Rujano would make the race a forgone conclusion with the Crostis included and that taking it out gave the other contenders more of a chance to win.

Yes, I'm reaching.... :p

I don't think the break is flying so much as Saxo Bank isn't chasing.

hmmm, saxo are saving their legs. I am surprised that Lampre, katusha, astana or liquigas haven't put guys in the break. saxo can now rely on assitance from those teams to chase. Those teams shouldn't give up without a fight.

Its clear that once again the egos of the directeur sportifs have polluted cycling joy. The lack of control they'd have had over the 37k around the crostis has led to them pulling this move. Tragically, events from the 1st wk have brought their combined ad-hoc arguments over the line. Said that, have to move on n njoy denouement
