Carlstrom was in a break yesterday that didnt get away. Hopefully someone can put in a good performance on the climb today.

Downing made the start today and is hoping to finish the Giro

Long stage today so i imagine the time limit will be pretty generous - although i think some of them will need it looking at the climbs.

Yep I think remaining non-climbers will be glad it's such a long stage, nice big time limit today

Maybe one can hope that Löfkvist won't lose any gigantic amounts of time but the rest of the squad has looked even bleaker on the climbs.

Too few mountain domestiques and those they got don't look too great.
Probably the bus for everyone but Löfkvist.

Saxo shouldn't give away todays stage to the break. This is the last push they will have to do for Contador. They can't help that much on the climb anyway.

Looks like I'll have to find a TV with Eurosport later today. Text updates won't do this stage justice.

Saxo and AG2R leading the chase.

Vorganov has just been sitting at the back for the last 10km, otherwise they are working rather well.

If the break gets over Finestre first what is the kom situation. What would Contador need on Sestrieres to win it?

Nice weather as they can see Monviso which must be 100+ km away :)

Its possible to see things 100km away?

Nothing, he needs 12 points, so at least 3 points from Finestre (4th) to still have a chance.

He gives away stages like they are over date cookies, but sacrifices his team for the climbers jersey?

I would hardly call holding the break at 10minutes with the help of another team a "sacrifice".

What I meant was, he is not interested in anything besides winning the Giro. Holding a 10 minute gap is not wasting energy, but he would not sacrifice his team if that is needed for the climbers jersey.

There's no excuse for losing any time before the last 50km, which coupled with the long length of stage and multiple based system, means it will be pretty difficult to miss the time limit.
