Vasil is a better descender than Rujano.
On Monte Pora in 2008 he won the stage by 4'36", and was 2nd to Sella on Pampeago after Manghen in bad weather too. I don't think he can match that, but I thought I'd point out that he has a lot of previous in the mountains (he also came 2nd in an intermediate stage of the Vuelta in 2008 after dragging Arroyo as a passenger all the way (Caisse were working for Valverde) and leaving everybody behind, being too strong to bring back).
We've just not seen him in his strong breakaway guise so much the last 2 years because he's been Valverde's personal minder. That ride in the Vuelta more or less single-handedly got him his contract with Unzué.
