Why does Porte get so much stick around here? What has he ever done to deserve it?

My predictions for the forum prediction game was..

Konvalovas
Contador
Porte
Menchov
Clement

Three of those aren't going to be up there, and then AC said he was going to take it easy :(

Rasmussen's force is raw power.

Alex Rasmussen is a track racer, maybe the reason he is not so technically good - he is used to a very predictable parcour :D

The 2 comments ive seen are from Ferminal and luckyboy who wanted him to do well so i dont see the stick.

Ive been critical of his gt chances at times. because some people (not many on here admitedly ) interpreted his 7th in Giro as the birth of a new gt superstar.

Because some people overrate him so much that to neutralize it we have to underrate him. I mean a Norwegian commentator just said that if Porte weren't here to help Contador he could have won the race himself...and the worst part, he's not the only one who thinks that.

I was wondering in general, the discussion had shifted to him. Whenever he's come up in the ppast on this forum, I notice that quite a few people are negative about him, which I don't always get.

Ok that's nuts. That commentator should be force to spend 6 months defending rider "x" from unsubstantiated doping allegations in the clinic. :D

Yeah. "The Voice of cycling" said Porte would beat Sanchez and Gesink in the Tour, even though he had never actually seen Porte race.

Poor porte gets hyped to way beyond his capabilities because he is anglophone.

Classics is what he can excel at.

Contador is the only one who could beat the first two times, and he isn't trying so... Go Menchov.
