just hoping that Scarponi holds Nibali off for second.

Pretty sure he has enough time in hand, but definitely dont want Nibali winning and getting 20 bonus seconds .... could make things difficult

As far as I know there are no bonus seconds in time trials.

Not so much Menchov improving, but Gadret being "slow" on ITT´s...

Remember that one?
http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=17899

you need to scroll all the way down ;)

OMG Gadret, just don´t loose more than 3 mins. to Menchov... everything else will be ok

Edit: $hit, there is 20 bonus seconds even on ITT´s, right. Oh no...

You can’t compare "easy spinning just to get to the finish" on TdF to fight for top 4 in probably the best form in his life.
Btw Giro 2010: http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=17397 - only 15km, but I don’t see 3 minutes loss today, time bonus included (if any).

Nibali last year 12 sec better than Scarponi, but got a bit better since (may not be enough) - let’s see, it will be interesting.
Wandering about Kreuziger, if the huge time spent with Specialized guys could do any difference, he might remember to his junior WCH silver ITT

Last year's ITT had very few flat sections, it was uphill the first half then descent the second. A better indicator for a flat city ITT would be the Amsterdam or Rotterdam prologues.

Prologues are too short and in the beginning, everyone has plenty of strenght - difficult to compare :(

The split time of the awful time trialist that is Kosta Sivtsov in last Tuesday's time trial is quite interesting though:

1 NIBALI Vincenzo ITA LIQ 7:44 0:00
2 CLEMENT Stef NED RAB 7:45 0:01
3 SIVTSOV Kanstantsin BLR THR 7:46 0:02

(Rodriguez was 4th, but I think he rode on a TT bike?)
On 4km flat where everyone finished within 15km of eachother, yeah that says a lot more than his actual ITT results

Contador was on a vacation ride yeserday, so I expect he'll want to win this time trial. Let's not forget doing good in this TT can be important training for the bigger TT in the Tour. Most great GT contenders usually like to test them in a TT before the Tour starts. In fact, it was the only thing Lance ever did in 1999-2005 outside the Tour and AGR.

Why isn't Kiryienka on your list of favourites?

He was 7th in last years tour time trial, only beaten by the likes of Cancellara, Millar, Grabsch, Konovalovas, Zabriskie and Moorenhout, and he seems to be in really decent form.

He was also 12th in last years final time trial of giro where his form wasn't as goog as it is now.

There are no bonus seconds today.

I think 40km solo over two mountains yesterday may put paid to his chances.

Gadret was 82nd in the Romandie ITT (20,1km), 2'21" down on Zabriskie. Kruijswijk was at 43", Kreuziger at 1'03", Siutsou at 1'23" and Menchov at 1'39". He was 96th in the ITT at Romandie 2010 (23,4km), 3'11" back on Porte, so he is showing improvement in that respect.

In the pancake flat (so flat Boonen and Bennati were in the top 16) Valencia ITT in the 2009 Vuelta (30km), Gadret was 140th, 4'20" shy of Cancellara. Kiryienka was 5th, 46" down, Andy Schleck 42nd, Mosquera 54th, Fränk Schleck 57th, Roman Kreuziger 63rd, Igor Antón 79th, and Joaquín Rodríguez 92nd - over a minute ahead of Gadret.

If he's even remotely human then his legs should be quite dead after his 200 km breakaway yesterday in which the last 50 km were done solo whilst holding a higher pace than the GC contenders.

yeah, it's flat but i counted around 35 turns and twists (mostly at the start and finish)...seems like good acceleration of the corners and risk taking should win the day...purito may still hang on, certainly kreuziger and menchov will move up on the gc and likely jump rujano. winner ? how about konovalovas

Hope it's Scarponi that gets second. Don't want Nibali to win this Giro officialy in a few months time.

They were both super boring though, but Scarponi edges it for me. Cause otherwise Nibali will have 2 GTs already gifted to him.

off-topic.. but... who is this girl in your picture?!

about the race.. I hope rujano make a good tt. And of course, AC win today!

Folks, AC isn't riding to win today.... He's going to ensure that he wins, of course, but otherwise, it's about savoring the moment and starting to recover for the defense of his TdF title in 6 weeks time. Make that 5 weeks.

I agree with you.

Scarponi showed that he has the courage to try something like following AC in the etna...

Alex Rasmussen, HTC Highroad

Huge surprise he didn't fark off like the rest of the sprinters a week ago, and I really think he's able to put in a top 10 effort today.
Alex is very talented, and as Cavendish once said, that guy is faster than me on the track.
Having said that, he has a lot to learn in his lead-out duty, as his acceleration according to Brian Holm is a bit over the top.
