Apart from Pinot I think the guys in the 2nd group really rode like losers. Dumo not so much intent but he also needs to ride with his emotions in check, I thought he was his own worse enemy in a lot of ways today.
What did Pinot do differently than the other riders?

Notice something? From the moment Dumoulin got dropped and had to ride on his own onwards he gained ten seconds on Yates. Today he didn't ride like someone who wants to win the giro more than anything else
Why wasn't the DS shouting in Dumoulin's ear: 'ride, ride, ride!'.
Those final 10 km suited him *way more* than Yates. Ride, and the others wil ride along because they can distance Froome and perhaps win the stage still.

Great stage, Yates miles better than the rest.

The group of 4 behind didn’t ride with their heads and ended up gifting Dumoulin bonuses.

Froome paid for yesterday and now it’s definitely Giro done and dusted.

Well too bad the tension is now completely gone from the GC. Yates has this

He doesn't have it as much as Kruijswijk did two years ago with three stages left.

The chasing group is a bunch of losers. Dumoulin even caught them in the end.

The profile of the climb suited Dumoulin near the end when it flattened out.

How does Yates do on 3rd week high mountain stages?
He's faded a bit in the past but this looks like a Yates we haven't seen before.

That tom made it back is indicative of the absolute jokers in that group
Carapaz especially is the biggest clown i've ever seen.
I'd say he's the one least to blame. He's got absolutely nothing to lose in this race; just riding for experience. He can do what he wants, and good for him not to bullied into working. The others are the ones expected to get results here and should be taking on the responsibility.

Impressive Yates anyway, gutsy ride.

Easy to be gutsy when you're simply better then everybody else...

Yeah? Ask Quintana how he lost his Tour with a dead Froome some time ago.
You have to believe.

Of course, without legs you can't be gutsy.

Yeah, it's not like anyone else seems to be on the verge of suddenly getting much stronger either. In this form, Yates could afford to fade a bit and still be the best rider in the race.

still he should not ride like a scum, he should have character, it will be bad mark to him to future, nobody will ever like him and help him

...he worked :) . Only he and Dumoulin took turns. Geez, Pinot even led the chase in the descent...he did his part. Pozzo when Dumo was dropped, then went back in the wheels, the other two didn't do squat,

But Quintana is a special kind of talent in not taking opportunities

Yatesy was insane! Made for great entertainment. What's up with the chase group? They had big Tom on the ropes and couldn't put him away! They will pay dearly on Tuesday. I think Yates seals the Giro win with today's performance. And Tom Dumoulin is looking strong for 2nd. Pinot and Pozzo . . . more chances ahead for the podium.

I thought he was pulling a lot when Yates initially went away, and was pretty much out of gas in the last few km.

Carapaz, Lopez and pozz imo had more left in the tank and just rode pathetically.
