Technical Overview:
So this year the wine stage is a transitional stage that bring the riders into Lombardia, in the Franciacorta area. From the shores of Garda Lake, the peloton will climb from km 0, on the way to Molina di Ledro (10 km at 5.5%, uncategorized, because reasons...). At the top there is a plateau of 15 km before a descent brings everyone at the bottom again. The first and only categorized climb of the day comes after 30 km of false flats. Lodrino (GPM3, 8.1 km at 4%) is on all accounts easier that the uncategorized climb at the start, but whatever. After it, there is still another uncategorized climb, around 7 km at 4%. The remainder of the stage is flattish, and makes a nice tour of the area near the lake Iseo. The finish is in the town with the same name.

No profile. Not much to say about this one.

What to Expect:
Breakaway wins and peloton nowhere to be seen.

I'm thinking breakaway. Three big stages coming up and the rolling terrain might not be great for sprinters.

I can´t decide if this will be for breakaway or it will be sprinters stage. Bora should go hard on climbs to tire Viviani as much as possible or even to drop him from peloton.

For an in form Ulissi the perfect stage is the monoclimb Pratonevoso.
But doesn't seem to be in form, today seemed good but he was drafted.

Hopefully this will finally be the stage where a big break fights it out. Nico Denz for the win.

I would’ve thought this was an obvious breakaway stage but if Bennett has designs on the Points classification (trails Viviani by 40 points) then he needs to try to win this stage.

With the way he was aggressive on his stage 12 win, my wild imagination wants him in the breakaway.

Q-St wont allow your wild imagination to come true.

Maybe some team will again try to test the other gc contenders on the first climb, but if nothing happens there this should be a rather uneventful stage no matter if it finishes in a bunch sprint or goes to the break. Logically I'm hoping for a break victory though. Ulissi is a good call but I'm going with a 2nd victory for Mohoric who has looked absolutely superb so far.

It is quite obvious time trial specialists Aru and Ulissi will motor away from the peloton from the start, with Aru ultimately winning, some 20 minutes ahead of the exhausted bunch.

Three possibilities for the break:

Lutsenko (an obvious one);
Puccio (Sky will want someone in the break for the teams comp);
Pedersen (has been trying hard for breaks and maintaining great form).
