Remember Nairito attacked from afar in 2013 and 2015 in Le Tour. I think he gets defensive about high GC placements in the biggest races. If the GC position isn't already there, they seem to get licence to thrill, but defending a good GC position is more important than seeking a great one, at least from what you'd call "secondary" riders, and the whole Movistar Giro team is that, seeing as obviously the bonanza leaders are Landa/Quintana/Valverde. They probably didn't expect a top 5 in the Giro, so Carapaz is getting his wings clipped a bit lest he jeopardise it.Forever The Best said:Well, he tried after I wrote this but I think he was too late and Lopez managed to follow him as well.Libertine Seguros said:Gonna Purito and try what he did yesterday, only the last km is almost flat here so it won't work.Forever The Best said:What an uninspiring ride by Carapaz. Podium+White Jersey is only 40 seconds away while his placing is almost secure but he doesn't try.
I blame Unzué because Carapaz has not been like this at any point to date in his career, although obviously recovery in a GT is a new thing for him because he wasn't riding the Vuelta for GC. He's got more timid as the race has gone on.
And I agree with you, Unzue is the reason for many riders getting defensive at Movistar. Still can't believe how Soler attacked from far out on the last stage of Paris-Nice.
If 'there' refers to the past 7 years then I agree.jaylew said:Classless by Sky there.

Yep. He's head and shoulders above the rest in this race. You have to think if an on-form Nibali, Landa or Quintana would have been in this race, they would have put him out of contention in the first week, and never let him get a gap like he did on Finestre.TMP402 said:Rollthedice said:Very good and brave Tom but Froome is in a completely other league.
Yeah, he's a world class GT rider.
This. There is always a chance he will be tired, but I wouldn`t count on it :/.MartinGT said:Zero class shown by Froome and Poels there. Just highlights what they will do to win.
Come July I shall be riding my bike and not taking ANY interest in the Tour unless the Dawg is banned.
Classic Sky. Party at my place once that team's gone.jaylew said:Classless by Sky there.
