Quick analysis, Froome not in great form. Everyone else looking pretty good. Astana to go mental tomorrow to launch MAL on the volcano:)

Yeah, he seemed to be struggling a bit on the steep part before the final approach.

Let's hope you're right about MAL. Wouldn't mind early fireworks. :)

Froome was going backwards on the steepest part of that hill, while every other GC contender moved up in that part. I really wonder tomorrow.

1) He was faking *** and destroys everyone
2) He is good, but can't really create a difference, like Tour 2017
3) He is really bad and loses all hope of winning the Giro

Battaglin is an underrated rider, in 2016 he did a lot of work for Kruijswijk and was probably his best domestique in the mountains.

Or

4) Bad but as is customary for first MTF nothing happens and Froome crosses the line last in the leading group of 15 riders. Other rides miss chance to win Giro as Froome rides into form in 3rd week ...

Battaglin's teammate threw away his bottle with 500m to go and almost made Poels crash, you shouldn't do something like that right before a sprint.

I saw that when it happened and thought it was pretty stupid. I thought these guys knew better than that.

It was pure luck that nobody crashed..

That was awful. Will he get a fine for that? That's a really dangerous move.

Easy win for Battaglin. Dennis another good ride to position himself and seemed comfortable without having the kick to compete with the others. It seems Sky appear and disappear on cue in these hilly finishes. Pozzo and Yates were active.
