Isn't it pronounced like in Froukje instead of like in Jeroen?

That's how I learned it in Dutch class IMHO.
No. It's archaic spelling, but it is pronounced like "koekje". Just like Frank Vandenbroucke.
Although, in his (Vanhoucke) part of the country it is common to have a speech impediment and only a minority can pronounce their own name correctly.

Nice demo from Ganna, that he's not just a trackie and short tt whatnot..well he's been in highest podium of P-R U23 and some San Juan stuff, so he's got cracking future in front of him.

Just wondering if mr. Evenepoel gets all stars aligned to get 4 rainbow jerseys, some world records, maglia rosa day, and Giro stage win or two before his 24 birthday?

Sounds like it was an interesting stage for the stage, but not really for gc. We might see this repeated.

Reason being that Nibali seems in prime position to win if he time trials as expected, and the only other rider who may only be satisfied with winning is Steven. Why - for example - would Fuglsang take major risks when he might sneak onto the podium riding attack free?

To be honest, I don't find Ganna winning a stage like this that unbelievable. Tony Martin once won a really tough Vosges stage in the Tour, that's kinda comparable. What I do find pretty incredible is that he won it after being caught by De Gendt, dropping De Gendt again and riding the final 5 k of a 1st category climb faster than the peloton that wasn't going fullgas, but not exactly slowly either.

Tony Martin also almost won the Mont Ventoux stage at the Tour.

De Gendt said he rode to make sure Rubio lost because he was just sitting on and knew he would get dropped on the descent if he chased Ganna.

based on his Strava data, McNulty was dropped on the climb. Dombrowski is probably just the better option for gc now, 3rd week should be pretty much perfect for him

It doesn't make that much sense to go for the GC with Dombrowski, when he's already seven minutes behind this early. If they're really believing in McNulty, JD should have dropped back to help. But UAE might be better off just hunting for stages now with McNulty, Dombrowski, Conti, Gaviria and especially Ulissi.

And then if McNulty or Dombrowski catches the right break, they could be back in the GC battle again.

I see it more the other way around: if McNulty was struggling yesterday already, he will lose loads of time in the final week anyway, and it makes no sense to wait for him. The route is so hard that 1st and 10th are likely to be seperated by half an hour anyway in the end, 7 minutes deficit now don't mean much.

But it wouldn't make much difference for Dombrowksi whether he was 7, 8 or 9 minutes behind. And he himself lost 5 minutes to McNulty on Etna.

It is possible though, that the team decided on it before or during the stage, if McNulty knew he didn't have the legs. Dombrowski is obviously the one with the most experience, but then why didn't they help him more on Etna?
