Fabian once destroyed the field on the Bonette Restefond. The same season where he also won TdS and almost won the stage to Crans-Montana iirc. And ofcourse he won a less mountainous edition of Tirreno as well.

Ganna winning this stage is not that hard to fathom considering the easy gradients and the cold weather.

Yates avoided further damage, good for him as next GC battle will be at stage 9, so he has plenty of time to recover.

He nearly got dropped near the top but assume he caught back on. Even so, that is the kind of climb he should have cruised up so something is still off...

This mtn was what, less that 6% grade? Cant see Ganna surviving the 10% climbs, but who knows. Excellent race by Ganna today.

Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara weren't bad on these kinds of stages either.

I don't think he is the new Dumoulin just a versatile time trialist who has the engine to win breakaway stages and hilly TTs as well.

Polish commentators keep pronouncing Vanhoucke as if it was Van Hoecke. It made me really confused at one point hearing that Van Hoecke had been on the attack on Etna.
