"It just a bike race" is a nonargument when it handwaves away bad precedents that take away enjoyment and spirit of the sport.
Bernal is totally gonna lose the Giro on the Agnello this year.Look on the bright side, they'll definitely put Fedaia back in for next year, right? Right!?
I agree, but that wasn’t my point.Yeah, but thats not an argument for doing a horrible job regarding the cancellation. Two horrible jobs doesnt justify it. We all know today that RAI in its current state is a bunch of amateurs, it is what it is. Hopefully they will sort it out, but arguing that scrapping two legendary climbs is somewhat okay because we wouldn't have seen it anyways is horse IMO.
Exactly. This is a question about being reasonable. No one demands unreasonable things from the riders and everyone applauds the fact that they cancelled that exact stage I was talking about. But they knew they were going to race this exact stage and they know there would be a good possibility of it being cold. Everything was out there to be seen, RCS didn't suddenly add another climb for fun. But we can demand as spectators that the riders will ride the stages if weather isnt extreme which it was far from. Nothing about today was extreme. Very hard, sure, but not extreme.Andorra 2016 at the Tour another example. From perfect sunny conditions to heavy rain (and even hail, from what I remember) in a matter of minutes.

But then you could say that stage 20 in 2019 with Rolle counts.
That's the one. Weird stage design tbh.I dont even know which stages was it. maybe the one Bilbao won?
Most likely no, but these things should be judged separately from each other. I think thats a way too easy cop-out.I agree, but that wasn’t my point.
I’ve seen a lot of comments from people on social media that they missed seeing riders take on 2 great climbs, whereas actually they wouldn’t have seen a thing.
Using one problem to excuse another. Lot of that going around these days. Most likely no, but these things should be judged separately from each other. I think thats a way too easy cop-out.

It makes no sense - as I said earlier, two wrongs doesnt make a right.Using one problem to excuse another. Lot of that going around these days.
The forum has set a new record for posts in a thread per minute broadcast.
It seriously looks like RAI, RCS & CPA have stolen a podium spot from Bardet by excluding Fedaia & Pordoi.A pity the stage was shortened, Bardet could have gained more time in his bid for a podium place.
There's only one stage that suits him like a glove later in the race.
I think it was considered in case of snow.Did they not announce that the times were to be taken on the top of the Giau, and the descent was only to determine finishing order? That would have been odd, but even worse if they said that would be the case and then did not apply it.
What did Basso say?It seriously looks like RAI, RCS & CPA have stolen a podium spot from Bardet by excluding Fedaia & Pordoi.
Potentially even a 2nd place. Because as good as Caruso has ridden, his issue always has been endurance & recovery to bring his performances from the Tour of Switzerland on the parquet over 3 weeks.
It really is a crime if the main-issue the impossible TV coverage, which was non-existent now anyway.
You could've transmitted the stage delayed. Or at least could've sent recorded images from the Fedaia, Pordoi & Giau via 4G once there's network access again to create a 2 hours highlight show for RAI, Eurosport, L'Equipe etc.
Now, we didn't get to see anything noteworthy either. But the sporting impact for a guy like Bardet, might end up being dramatic. Also for his value as a gc rider!
If it's true what Copeland said and Basso suggested between the lines, this is not okay IMHO!
The weather didn't look worse than what a mailman has to deal with during fall season. Yes, the mailman of course the mailman doesn't need to descent Dolomites cols, but in Scandinavia or Scotland there might be slippery downhill sections as well and these are professional cyclists, which apparently intended to race actually.
It was only a rumour amidst the confusion over whether or not they would do the whole stage or not at the start of the day.Did they not announce that the times were to be taken on the top of the Giau, and the descent was only to determine finishing order? That would have been odd, but even worse if they said that would be the case and then did not apply it.
He did say that there was confusion, they originally wanted to race and then a whole lot of nothing if I remember correctly. What did Basso say?
That's true. Besides Pogi was beaten than no other than over the hill Valverde in 2019. Last year Him and Rog defeated no other than the king of Willunga hill. I mean, it doesn't get better than that.No disrespect intended, but he’s beating Caruso, Bardet (who hasn’t looked like a GC contender in years). That’s a long way from going head to head with the ski jumper and aspiring rapper. The others are solid on paper, but underperforming to an extent.
At first glance the weather will be betterHow's the weather in the coming days? There are still two mountain stages where you can make a big difference.
