I thought they were aiming for the race to be held a week later after the Olympics?
The Olympic Games, held this summer, originally planned to be held in 2020. 2022 is the first year after where the calendar is unaffected by the Olympics. So that it is possible for the Giro to be held a week later. That'd mean that it would start May 13th and end June 5th.What? What "Olympics" are you talking about?
This was to avoid having stages snowed out right? The Olympic Games, held this summer, originally planned to be held in 2020. 2022 is the first year after where the calendar is unaffected by the Olympics. I'm not sure that I can spell it out more clearly than that.

Probably, yes. This was to avoid having stages snowed out right?
If the first interpretation of a text doesn't make sense, try another.Thought you meant "after the Olympics" in the sense that "the Olympics" had to finish before the Giro could start. And that's what confused me, because even if they - rather weirdly - held the Winter Olympics in May, there wouldn't be a conflict-of-interests the same way as with the Summer Olympics. Sure, Anton Palzer wouldn't be able to do both, but I somehow don't think they should base the entire schedule on Anton Palzer...
Was the talk that the later Giro start would be permanent - except for in (summer) Olympic Years? Or maybe even in Olympic Years too.
they just mentioned Cogne, but overall there weren't any details so I can't rule out anything.Valnontey, or Cogne village?
Cogne isn't bad, if you put 2-3 other climbs right before it.they just mentioned Cogne, but overall there weren't any details so I can't rule out anything.
You could do Pila-les Fleurs via the Terreblanche cimb that they used in the Giro della Valle d'Aosta.Unfortunately best direct leadin would probably be GSB which would seem unlikely. A proper tappone would be Tze Core, Saint-Panthaléon northeast, Champremier, Pila-les-Fleurs and then Cogne, but that might kill racing the day before if it's a mountain stage as we have no real MTF rumours in there.
After this year's travesty, though, giving me a Tze Core/Champremier stage AND Fedaia (FEDAIA!!!!!) is the least Vegni could possibly do.
all ranging from unlikely to almost impossible tbh. The likeliest would be Mortirolo.Any chance they will use Stelvio east, Finestre, Mortirolo or Fauniera? (well placed in a stage) If they do it's already a big plus.
article from two weeks ago that listed a lot of dubious stuff outside of its own region... so I'm not really taking it seriously.
But with dubious Fauniera mentions it is now officially a Giro route thread.article from two weeks ago that listed a lot of dubious stuff outside of its own region... so I'm not really taking it seriously.
Tbh after Fedaia it's one of my favorite names alone.A few more no-shows and Fauniera will become most legendary and favourite GT climb.
