I have no additional info when it comes to a potential Südtirol stage, our govenor talked like it was a done deal months ago, but nothing new since then.

You can't really call Etna overused if the Giro hasn't used the same side twice in recent history. Like, would you call a climb that hasn't been used since 2011 overused?

They tend to be similar length and gradient regardless though, right? And always a MTF (usually without anything much before it).

Whereas say with Mortirolo, you use different sides, but have various scenarios after climbing it. It might be 100 kms from the finish or 50 kms.

I don't reeeally wanna let this one go too much cause the Tour is using the other side of Peyragudes....

But then does Sicily have much alternatives for MTF apart from Etna?
There would be Regia Trazzera Prestanfuso, a monster murito that is covered with concrete. 1.1km at 18.8%.

You could use it right before an uphill finish in Caltavuturo. You can have Piano Battaglia right before it and have a nice stage.
Here's a really short version of a potential stage, but you can make it longer without any problems, maybe start in Palermo and add one of the short to mid length climbs around the city right at the start. One could also go for a Tirreno-Adriatico style circuit that consists of the final 41kms of the stage, but that might be overkill:

Sicily is filled with cities that are on top of a hill, so you could do a ton of punchy uphill finishes.

19% average seems insane but it as long as there's no pinches that make it re*** then it looks pretty epic to me.
