Posh?? Phil Liggett has a Merseyside accent. Nothing remotely posh about him.

A complete driveling idiot as well!
well to a guy who grew up in Texas, his voice plays into the stereotype of British people being educated and sophisticated.

I think it's unfair to call him an idiot though, because 30 years ago he had an average intellect.

So senile would be the better term? ;)

I wonder who will go for the mountains jersey on stage 1. This is a very good opportunity for a smaller team to get some exposure that way. Perhaps we'll see a bit more fight to get into the doomed morning break this time. This year's breakaway king, Tarozzi, seems like a good bet. The Bais bros of course. Maestri and Marcellusi perhaps.

Good profile to start this Giro, gives chance to a wide array of riders to fight for the win and take the first Maglia Rosa.

I expect Kooij to be dropped in the last climb, someone will attack, but ultimately a reduced bunch will fight for the win with Pedersen taking it.

Pogi would try on the last climb!
It reminds me a little of the Catalunya Montjuich stage. From the top of the climb it's only downhill to the finish so it should be possible to stay clear of the bunch? Sounds like Pidcock to me.

Group will try to get away on the last climb. Will beef up the speed in the peloton.

Downhill super speed will happen and a major crash at the last corner will end the race for a few good ones.

Winner will be anyone that gets out of the corner in one piece.

If Scaroni & Pidcock still had their February shape they would be my favorites as well.

It has been a long spring for Pidcock though and dunno in what shape Scaroni returned from his Strade Bianchi crash.

The white plumes rising from Vatican City yesterday wasn't just the signaling that a new Pope had been elected, it also means the Giro is about to start. Such a fantastic startlist and only an hour to go, I can't wait!

And we're off to the races, happy Giro everyone!

Have to admit I know very little about Albania, so it'll be cool to at least see a little bit of it this weekend.
