the Giro del Veneto finish isn't as far up the road as today's, so he didn't actually win on this finish, but on an easier one, at the same climb.

This is what I needed to know cause for a second I thought Groves could even make it if it was the Veneto finish. I'm assuming they are finishing on the steeper straight here? Perfect for punchers then.

Bernal: We attack today!
Roglic: Sorry I can't hear you, I have something stuck in my ear

Oh thats interesting. I thought it was the same.

Do you know how much shorter it was in Veneto?

they take the same road, but in Veneto the finish is right after the corner.

So it's only a ~300m difference, but I'd think it should make the difference, and turn out to be too hard for the sprinters - even the punchy ones.

Feels like a breakaway stage. Del Toro winning in pink would be lovely but I don’t think they will control this stage all day.

Let's hear your predictions on a few Stage 13 Head to Heads (H2H):

> Stage 13 H2H - Del Toro v Roglic

> Stage 13 H2H - (Simon) Yates v Storer

> Stage 13 H2H - Pidcock v Ulissi

> Stage 13 H2H - Pedersen v van Aert

The breakaway will be a Bardiani, a Polti Visit Malta and an Arkea. Mads will get 3 plus 3 at the intermediate sprints. They will be caught. A strong punchy rider, probably up in the GC, will win. No sprinter will win this unless you count Vendrame as a sprinter.

Also don’t think Lidl will do it. Unless they have no one in the break but I expect a large group to go away for the stage win.
If LIDL wants, this stage is easier to control than the one Carapaz won. There are too many flat kilometers.

That finish is hard to predict. The last ramp should kill most of the sprinters, but Pedersen looks really strong. Its not like a 500 meter 6% uphill sprint where the versatile sprinters like Pedersen and Groves always win.

It should be del Toro after what I have seen the last days. UAE won't control the break though.

Buongiorno (4am in my parts), and we are off to the races! Sky looks a bit cloudy and a break is trying to form, I think. Lots of looking around and looking back...

Looks like there's some wind, echelons?

Pedersen voicing pre-stage that the finale is borderline for him - he will go for it, but if he does not have the legs the team has Ciccone and Vacek as alternatives.

Reasonable chance that the pin is pulled at some point in the stage and they take a rest day allowing 15 minutes, so I can see why the break fight is a bit livelier than the usual.
