Gee actually completely out of position and made up a lot.

He was ~13th on the flat before the hard left corner and also at the red kite. He gets a bit swarmed afterwards, but I think it was more a case of people in front of him going backwards than of him making up a lot of ground.

His Strava shows him holding a pretty consistent 600-650 W for the duration of the climb. Think it's fairly typical on these hills that the 2nd group kind of holds the power of the leadup while the winning group that gaps the rest goes up another gear at the end.

Looked like a good stage, great to see Pedersen take the win, few thought he could survive on that finishing pitch but when he took off it was game over. Also good to see confirmation that Wout is back to good form and another solid effort from Bernal who should move up GC in the final week.

For the rest, obviously Del Toro looked good and now has a 38 sec gap on Ayuso. But I am wondering if contesting all these minor sprints rather than conserving energy might be taking its toll on reserves he will need for what is to come this Giro? Doubt today will help him on Finestra or Valentino. We will see.

I'm talking about before the sprint, just before the last corner. He is already passing riders and closing gaps there. With making up ground I mean compared to the guys behind Pedersen and Van Aert btw, the other GC riders.

Godon is following him there btw and he gets 5th, pretty impressive too.

Congratulations to Mads Pedersen for his fourth win.

Stage sort of over delivered, compared to the expectations, Ineos with Bernal having a say in that. It seems that stage 13 has finally set Yates in full support role and i feel that del Toro reached his limit, baiting Rogla in such confrontations didn't succeed, still impressive riding so far. Ayuso from now likely more exposed, as UAE has put all the eggs in a single basket. Rogla didn't seem all that interested in going all out today, still a solid performance through and through the stage. Team would need to do more in regards to positioning and eliminating the more raw powered contenders at the beginning of the climb, then Rogla would likely kick a bit more. A trip to homeland and then back into the mountains, on where it all begins!
