Great win for Asgreen. He is back in good shape.

Terrible day for the Italian hopes in this Giro, Tiberi losing almost two minutes and Ciccone injured and out of GC. I feel bad for him but it serves the organisers well for the lack of mountains in the first two weeks of this race.

Del Toro, Simon Yates and Carapaz gaining big time on the two pre-race favourites Roglič and Ayuso.

Who would have thought that so much would happen in the overall standings today?
What is striking is that Del Toro is always where he needs to be. The crash was way out in front. But he comes through again. And you can see again what makes a strong team. Ayuso had enough helpers again to at least get back into the group around Roglic. RBH again had hardly any helpers with Roglic, so that a lot of time was lost on Rosa again and Ayuso also got off lightly.

Just checked, after being in the first break, Asgreen went again at 174.8K - so that is the length of his stage winning break today

Not entirely clear but from what he said and from the images, Tiberi might have been the first one to crash?
He's got some bruises and feels pain in his left wrist, back and ankles.

In a way, we, the viewers get cheated out of a GT. Now we probably won't see the main battle that was going to be Roglic vs Ayuso; on the other hand, the fans of other riders and expectations now have a GT to watch and enjoy...always two sides on a coin. I was of the belief that Roglic would strike back when the climbs came, but now I have doubts. Hopefully somehow Ayuso and Roglic square off still

there have been plenty of climbs ..not mountains but climbs

I really cant stand the bias ...I want Bernal to win and I have a bet on Ayuso to win but the mantra that del Toro can only win if others crash is bollix

Wait and see.

If Rog isn't too hurt after today and has climbing legs next week, he might pull back 2 minutes on Del Toro on the actual proper climbs coming next week and still lose the Giro.

At which point, a real argument could be made that Del Toro won because of these types of incidents.
