In a way, we, the viewers get cheated out of a GT. Now we probably won't see the main battle that was going to be Roglic vs Ayuso; on the other hand, the fans of other riders and expectations now have a GT to watch and enjoy...always two sides on a coin. I was of the belief that Roglic would strike back when the climbs came, but now I have doubts. Hopefully somehow Ayuso and Roglic square off still
Ayuso and Roglic were certainly hyped up before the race, Not surprisingly.
But the hype doesn't entitle them to anything. Sometimes the people pushing the hype are simply wrong.

That's the first time I've seen anyone being involved in a crash and then gein time from said crash. Del Toro must have had some tips from Nibali before race.

What are you suggesting? That there were cars who mowed all the peloton down to come up to tow Del Toro who always had at least 100 riders behind him?

Roglic has no reason not to go all in, and I expect him to do so. Ayuso needs Roglic to, though it would not surprise me at all if he has his own attacks.

He is a bit more than 2 minutes from del Toro. If he is the strongest he can do it and it would be pretty fun to watch. Of course we don't really know yet who has the upper hand uphill

And sometimes, races get decided by crashes, sometimes specifically because riders and race organisers are idiots.

Just because something happens, doesn't mean it was the most likely outcome based on available information at the time.

This is what happens when riders are conservative.
Except Bernal, but he is no longer strong enough.

Pogacar and Vingegaard could´ve lost two minutes today because they'd be clear leaders of this Giro. Even though the route is a ***.

In any case, in stage 15 they should know who are the three strongest riders . The entire top 20 shouldn't be thinking they could win the Giro due to a false sense of equality, and everyone at the head of the peloton in a sprint stage.

Yes asgreen and Carapaz the weaklings ....they were gifted their wins.
Carapaz got his win, nothwithstanding he made a brilliant attack, because Lidl Trek stupidly rode to bring the break. There is no way EF could have brought back that break. Today's stage was dictated by poor tactics by the peleton which was mangnified by the crash on the circuit.

Difficult situation today in UAE. Del Toro is in a good position, but he won't want to have dinner with Ayuso tonight.

This is all shaping up perfectly for Roglic to prove he's not just a mountain sprinter by pulling a Froome on Finestre.

Wait and see.

If Rog isn't too hurt after today and has climbing legs next week, he might pull back 2 minutes on Del Toro on the actual proper climbs coming next week and still lose the Giro.

At which point, a real argument could be made that Del Toro won because of these types of incidents.

Well first there is along way to go and the winner is not decided by a mile

But so far Del Toro is in the lead and not because of a crash...He has performed very well and looks like he is very talented. His lead was extended today but he wasnt given the lead

He also has a good buffer so if Ayuso and Roglic are squaring off he would have to drop alot of time and I cant see that happening easily . Of course he too could be the victim of circumstances, like mechanicals, crashes. And he could have a bad day but he deserves pink imo

But he still should still treat the audience to what they came for :tearsofjoy: And the town for what they paid for.

Given that you've at times said you hoped all the world's accidents (or almost) would befall Masnada because you were so annoyed by ilmaestro's hyping him up, this behaviour seems so odd to me.

I'm very disappointed that Tiberi got caught in the crash as well. I hope he's ok. I was looking forward to a good placement in the General. Really a shame about the accident.

A tribute to Tudor, who neutralized the first break and allowed this one to happen, supposedly because they were weak.

Tudor hasn't been involved in any of these breaks.

The GTs will miss teams like Corratec and Kern Pharma, given the attitude of Tudor and Q36.5.

There would be 64.3% fewer whiny posts here if they just stop doing GT's over 3 weeks, with all the obstacles and dangers, and just line everyone up at the bottom of a mountain that is best suited for the 2 or 3 pre GT "favorites," and just give the trophy to the guy who gets to the top first...

I'm enjoying watching Del Toro, as he is riding like he gives a ***, with meh help from his team. If he wins, he deserves to win, because he did what he needed to do to win. Sorry you aren't getting your Ayuso/Roglic showdown yet. Maybe you'll be happier with the 2-up Tour de France?
