Watching the replay. Del Toro, Carapaz, and Pidcock were also involved in the accident. But they reacted quickly. They didn´t wait for their domestiques.

It's not all bad luck.

Some riders managed to overcome the moment better than others.

I think if or when the bunch crashes going into Rome next weekend, I'd like to see some guys use their ability to 'overcome' the incident and grab the GC win on the final day in that manner.

Or like a painting by Pieter Bruegel. Anyway, I see Roglic sitting on the ground to the left of Brenner (german jersey). Where is his bike ? The Bora guy in the middle is probably Moscon. And the one on the right side is likely Pelizzari.

So, Del Toro was stopped by the crash, and made it back to the front group. Clearly the riding of a man that doesn't deserve to win...Maybe Roglic and Ayuso need to ride harder?
It's definitely a portion of luck involved. But if you look at his save today and look at the fact that Del Torro seems to be attentive where Ayuso and Roglic regularly seem to be inattentive it's certainly some sort of quality as well.

Del Toro easily could have crashed and hurt himself today. Roglic and even Ayuso have a history of being inattentive or cautiousless positioned in the field.

Roglic once again hit his left ass. Normally he should be alright. Some riders would have saved this but he likes to crash. Hope he and the rest are ok.

The way the race is going I can only assume Simon Yates wins the Finestre stage and with it the Giro after being completely anonymous for 3 weeks.
Nah, Richie is going to smash everyone once we get into the high mountains. You heard it here first ;)

Loving the drama so far! Not a dull stage until now in this Giro, really unpredictable as a real GT should be. The bad weather, the crazy streets, the crashes, the ambushes, now that's cycling at his best.

So MR. I'M TOO GOOD TO BE TADEJ DOMESTIQUE, you better get a grip on this GT cause we have the real BULL leading wonderfully!
Also Rogla please, take some riding lessons from Pedro Acosta or another Red Bull MOTOGP rider please...

Its all been said up-thread but congrats to Kasper Asgreen.

Nice to see Groves get 2nd ahead of Kooij, he still has the speed.

But the crash and time losses for GC are an unavoidable reality of grand tours. Great save by Del Toro which might play a big part in him winning this Giro and not just luck - attentiveness.

I am not sure Roglic can claw back 2' 23", it will depend if Del Toro cracks. Maybe competing for all those finishes will catch up with him. But maybe it won't and he wins the Giro?
