Just reading the doomy first pages of this thread. Then skip to the bit where the stage was won by a class act with chaos in his wake, Hey ho!

Arensman got lost behind Tarling and went completely missing, so Tarling started looking over his shoulder and drifted to the side to see where the rest of the team were shortly before the crash. You can see it from the front moto on the multi-screen.

What was Olav Kooij playing at today?
His teammate Simon Yates may have a shot at winning this Giro so he should have put himself at the front of that chasing group to gain time on the other contenders.
Instead, he sat in the pack, simply thinking about his own potential stage win, leaving Yates at the front and not gaining as much times he could have.
Poor from Visma.

Are you trying to blame tarling for the crash? To be fair it wouldn't be the first time he caused a crash in the bunch, but I think today is was more just a natural consequence of a wet rainy urban circuit than tarling fault

I am trying to establish what happened leading up to the crash. You can withhold judgement until you have a more full picture of the event.

ineos riders are much better at getting mountain stages cancelled than they are at handling their bikes

I‘m likely dumb because I can‘t think of anything right now. Can you please tell me when that happened? I expect it to be something super obvious

Narrow roads on top of a mountain stage = exciting
Narrow roads in a corner in a city on a non selective stage with cobbles on a rainy day. Not exciting.
