Friday he can survive. Saturday will be harder, but he may yet save his jersey on the descent of Finestre like a latter-day Savoldelli.
I wouldn't underestimate Friday, it's a lot of long, hard climbs and even Joux is 15km at 7%. The gradients aren't crazy but we saw at Livigno last year and in the Tour in general that 6-8% gradients can cause damage.

Yeah I think a lot of long climbs is enough to cause major pain at this point.

I think if the steeper section is longer today he already would have had to do that today. Friday is absolutely brutal, and Finestre is such a hard climb. We'll see. Hoping for an exiting race. I'd like Carapaz to win, but I like del Toro a lot from what I've seen, also seems like a nice chap.

Can is the key word here. It is nowhere near a guarantee he will.
