Shocker of a TT by Van Aert. Roglic in a league of his own of the GC guys. And if course well done by Tarling! No real surprises other than Van Aert disappointing.

Edit: Ayuso disappointed as well despite him being inconsistent.

I don't think it was that shocking, Wout has had a pretty shitty last couple of years.

Mads can do it for 2-3K at 7.5 % - not for 10K

The first 2/3 of the Giro is pretty light on GC days and tomorrow is one, especially because of how early in the race it is.

I'll be shocked if both Bora and UAE ride it slow.
Roglic is not interested in the maglia rosa or competing for a stage win. UAE maybe who knows how they are working internally. Yesterday they were pretty unorganised and I wouldn't bet on anyone other than Vine to offer himself up for the rest of the team.

But the more I think about it the better I like the idea of Lidl putting Vacek in the break and call it a day.

6 teams making up the top 16 positions.

Thank God, Allah, Buddha and all nine million deities of Shinto that this wasn't a TTT.

McNulty always fails someday.

Only Ayuso and Yates really matter. And Yates has problems as a GT leader, as seen in the Vuelta.
Isaac Del Toro given green light in first year to race Vuelta, this year boss gave thumbs up for Giro..Del Toro made front group on Pedersen win, up there in the sprint, today he ripped to 12th place behind a flying Josh "TT" Tarling @18 seconds back. and he kept close margins on other national TT champs like McNulty. Respectable racing indeed

I skimmed an article, in which WVA wife says they cut their stay in Italy short to go see their own doctor. Saying that if you're ill you want to see your own doctor. Feels so weird to me. I just assumed a team like Visma would have a doctor on hand. And that said doctor would be more than good enough to have earned the rider's trust.

Looked like this happened. Ayuso performed better than I expected, Carapaz much worse. McNulty and Ayuso are in a good spot for UAE.
The race begins early and will be interesting what happens through next week.

Ayuso performed better than you expected? How?

His ride was a disaster...

Wasnt he involved in a crash yesterday?

Wind picked up in the end here.

Maybe not his best performance, but disaster is a bit harsh.

It was "just" okay.

I honestly think it's awesome.

Sure it's ugly as sin, but I love the innovation.
I would hate to ride that hot monstrosity, though. Seems like you could get claustrophobic. Not to mention what your kids would say about the "look" for years to come.

Jefferson Cepeda with a terrible performance, losing more than 2 minutes.

Jefferson Cepeda with a really strong ride, squeezing in between the Yateses in 27th, only losing 33 seconds. I didn't know he could TT decently.
