yeah, it's honestly a very unusual race so far. Most sprinters have improved their climbing massively over the last couple of years, but here "everyone" with a a bit of speed always gets dropped instantly, no matter if the pace is high or not.

The Basilicata region has a few much harder muritos that are actually not that far away from eachother. One could make a great stage with a 3 murito sequence (if the region is paying for it).

Kooij and Groves are both in bad form due to his injuries. They can ride a fast sprint, but their climbing isn't at normal level.

And then Van Aert of course too.

I don't think they dropped the sprinters (esp. Groves) sufficiently to keep them from returning. Only the last 5 km of that climb were suitable for attacking, but noone bothered anyways.
