Gee could attack and bridge to his boy, same with people a bit lower down. Thing is bora need to time this so they give the jersey away, they can’t chase too much.

Ulissi has struggled on the previous climbs. Fortunato seemed the strongest.
I'm not saying it's perfect but Fortunato was not gonna close every gap in the final 60 km and is not a good rouleur. I don't think he was that much stronger uphill than say Frigo or Kelderman or Bardet to actually have a chance on this profile.

I think Frigo is the one who burnt the biggest shot at a stage win among the ones in the second group.

Yes, and Ulissi is faster, although it would´ve been better for them to stay together for more kilometers.

What I didn't understand was why Visma was the one to eliminate one of their riders. With two of them, they might have had more options in the final kilometers.

Im not even sure the Frigo group will keep ahead of the peloton. Going slow and still a long way.
