I don't know the climb but looking at the profile its 13k at 8%, and steeper at the start, whats wrong with that?
It's a very good MTF, but as a final mountain stage it's very underwhelming, as it doesn't link up with any climbs and it'll be more likely that everyone will wait for the final climb, rather than attack from far.

Honestly if stage 20 isn't too hard and stage 19 is the dolomites tappone we all are hoping for, I don't see much of an issue with Piancavallo. It's not hard enough to flip around the GC, so it doesn't stop racing like Lussari or Zoncolan would. Yet it still gives riders the opportunity to attack on a climb where in the past attacks haven't been seen that often. If they go twice Piancavallo or with La Crosetta it still would the opportunity for a desperation move to gain 2 minutes for a spot on the podium. So I rather have this:

19: 5000-5500 D+ to Piani di Pezzè
20: 180 km 4000 D+ to Piancavallo

Instead of the other way around. I fear more that stage 19 could block action on a potential great classics parcours on stage 18.

Who is looking for a venue for the presentation 4 weeks beforehand…
Is it not a bit late to be looking for a place?? Or is it normal that they don't have a date announced yet?

It reminds me of leaving my holiday accommodation booking until I'm at the airport.

It's actually very typical of Italian cycling, but not so much of Italy anymore.
Booking venues in advance has gotten kind of extreme here and not just for large events.
Just very typical of NWern Europeans to think Mediterranean countries are below them ( on a map)

I wonder how that Dolomite tappone will be. Giau as the penultimat climb is good, but it is not optimal connected to Piani di Pezze. That is far from being the best location for a MTF or a stage finish in the Dolomites.

I read that Fedaia will be included as well.
Not sure if it's true.

That would be interesting. Could we see something crazy like San Pellegrino, Fedaia, Pordoi and Giau before the last climbe to Piani de Pezze?
I think the best we can realistically hope for is Giau-Falzarego-Fedaia-Pordoi-Pezze

Is it rumoured where the stage will start?

I thought they may would approach from the west since a Madonna di Campiglio MTF is rumorued and they will continue to Friuli for the next stage.
