When was the last time it was a focal point (Not including 2022 MTF), 2011? We haven't had Fedia-Pordoi since 2001 which is crazy considering how much of a classic it used to be in the 90's.I'm still waiting for a Domomite tappone where Fedaia would be the focal point. Something ending with Fedaia - Sella/Pordoi, alternatively a descent finish to Selva or Arabba.
Also in 2002. And 2006.When was the last time it was a focal point (Not including 2022 MTF), 2011? We haven't had Fedia-Pordoi since 2001 which is crazy considering how much of a classic it used to be in the 90's.
Please no Fedaia, for this stage it is strictly worse than Giau as third last climb. They will likely start in Feltre and do Duran and Staulanza first. Then it's either Fedaia-Pordoi, Falzarego-Giau OR Giau-Falzarego. You can plausibly add Franche or San Lucia.
I was speaking in terms of being the final or penultimate climb of the stage, in 2002 and 2006 it was a bit earlier, like the original proposed queen stage in 2021.Also in 2002. And 2006.
It's an awesome descent, I did it last year and was very good fun.Btw, the descend from Giau towards Caprile or Colle Santa Lucia is pure bike porn, never done a better one.
Early 2000s I would say. 2001 as you mentioned and the year before when they ended in Selva after Fedaia and Pordoi. When was the last time it was a focal point (Not including 2022 MTF), 2011? Hardly the best stage featuring Fedaia, but surely the 2008 MTF on a stage with six categorised climbs including the hard side of Giau qualifies?Early 2000s I would say. 2001 as you mentioned and the year before when they ended in Selva after Fedaia and Pordoi.
Yeah, but a Fedaia MTF pretty much neutralize all the action there until the last 5-6 steep kms.....Hardly the best stage featuring Fedaia, but surely the 2008 MTF on a stage with six categorised climbs including the hard side of Giau qualifies?
I'm fairly confident we'll get Giau, and even if it'll be as penultimate climb that should be good too. Then it's about getting as favourable a situation for that stage.Fedaia/Giau cresting at 50km to go with 2 easier climbs after it would be perfect. But we won't get it.
According to the last rumours we can have two itts, one in the first week and the other in the second week. Some sources speak about a flat stage with finish in Milan and a total swiss stage from Bellinzona to Cari. It's almost sure that the stage with finish in Madonna di Campiglio will start from Cassano d'Adda.
Bellinzona - Gotthardpass - Furkapass - Nufenenpass - Cari should be around 190 km and 5000m of climbingWhat can they possibly do before Cari?
That will most likely make it an easy Mountain Stage I guess. Long flat in the beginning. And then Just Doano before? Or from the other side, Tonale and Campo Mange and downhill finish.According to the last rumours we can have two itts, one in the first week and the other in the second week. only it's 40k from the top of Nufenenpass till the start of the climb to Cari. So, or nothing happened till Cari or it will be epic. At least it would be great to see those climbs outside the Suisse Tour where they are not used enough lately.Bellinzona - Gotthardpass - Furkapass - Nufenenpass - Cari should be around 190 km and 5000m of climbing
Approaching from the south:What can they possibly do before Cari?
Pretty sure the Nufenenpass is not normally open that time of year, so given the Gran San Bernardo and Forcola di Livigno sh*tshows in recent years I highly doubt they go there. In the unlikely event of its inclusion, it would also be the Cima Coppi, the first one outside Italy since the Simplonpass in 1985 (although they had intended Izoard in 2009) - another reason as to why I'm sceptical. You can also put the climb below directly before Carì, that would be a solid stage.
