And just like that, he's in the breakaway! I wonder if he reads these forums...

He has Chris Froome and Luke Roberts for company, 25 seconds ahead of the peloton.

Seems to be riding a bit more tactically now as he's dropped back into the peloton. Froome and Roberts have followed the wisdom of his ways and returned as well.

The plot thickens...

I know it's obscure italian, I still don't get the joke, though.

It's not really a joke, more like a stupid childish game if you ask me. Just a little advice... Don't Involve yourself in that, leave alone " smart guys " in their little secret society ;)

Serramenti Tagliatelli Aqua e Colnago !?! What a ridiculous load of crap...

I thought David Loosli is an obscure Swiss rider rather than obscure Italian rider.

I think they'll let this break succeed, no need to use energy on chasing them. If Henderson gets over the climbs, he's my favourite, the others need to drop him.

We'll still see some fireworks from the GC riders though. The main question is whether the Rai producers manage to focus on two things at the same time. Probably not.

Edit: spelling

About 78kms.
17 riders: D. Wyss (BMC), R. Bertogliati (Androni Giocattoli), A. Grivko (Astana), M. Claude (Bbox), K. Kriit (Cofidis), M. Belletti (Colnago), I. Mayoz (Footon), C. Meyer (Garmin), M. Marzano (Lampre), S. Lang (Omega Pharma), M. Facci (Quick Step), T. Stamsnijder (Rabobank), G. Henderson (Sky), C. Lewis (HTC), J. Horrach, S. Klimov (both (Katusha) and P. Voss (Milram).
- Peloton at 3'50"

How big are those climbs? Surely there is enough time for people to catch back on. However, you're right. Pozzato could very well do the double here in the same fashion as today.

I rode around that area a few years ago from the absolutely awesome cycling hotel Hotel Belvedere
http://www.belvederericcione.com/en/ in Riccione & I would think that these climbs would not be big enough to trouble the climbers or even the sprinters. Now if they went up to the principality of San Marino @ about 1500m asl & about 50 km from the coast then it might be a different story. My guess its a sprinters stage, but in this Giro you never can tell, it might snow.

Hahaha, I that is the same damn hotel I stayed at when I rode the Nove Colli last year.

David Millar has abandoned, which is a shame. No reason given.

Millar retired at the feed zone....his eyes have hills.

lol..!

No sprinters teams will be working here, Henderson up the front and two of Garmin's engines out of the race (and one up front).

Up to the GC teams to chase, but only if their men are strong enough to attack. Caisse/Saxo/Cervelo will be happy to let this one go.

If Hendy can make it over the climbs he has to be the favourite, but I think we'll see attacks on the Barbotto.

Does anyone know offhand who are the highest placed riders in the break?

Mayoz (Footon-Servetto-Fuji) is the rider in the break that is best-placed on GC, as he is 26th at 16'14" from current leader Richie Porte (Saxo Bank).
