Nibali should be feeling quite confident after today.

problem is Nibali today rode a mature ride, and Diesel'd his way up.
Tomorrow the finish might prove bit too short for him to recover like he did today. Hard to say how it will turn out tho.

I would like to think that a 220+ km stage with multiple climbs would suit him better than a shorter relatively 'easy' stage like today with a single huge climb. But then again I'm often wrong about these things.

Nibali will crack and lose 2-3 minutes.

DT isn't here so someone has to say it...

----------------------------------------------------

I will be disappointed if Androni don't do something special here tomorrow.

A big break should get away, but they will need 15 minutes up their sleeve before Giau if they want a chance of making it home at the front. Respect if one of them survives for the win after 200km+ in the break.

For me after stage 14 edits, this is the queen stage.
Of course no finish is quite like Zoncolan, but I expect big gaps again.
Unless ac cracks here, the race is over barring crash / mechanical disaster.

For first, yes, but there's the other podium spots left. Anton vs Nibali should be very interesting. Anton will probably win time in this stage, he'll need that in the TT.

they will probably be more tired by the time of the final climb here, making the last 6 k of this as hard as the last 6 k of the Zoncolan.

But we need some good things on Fedaia.

And the descents. As i mention in the OP the descents are really fast.

13k at 7% going down.

I hope Anton realises that if he doesnt attack Nibali can put time on him.

I hope Nibali has the balls to do it. The descent of Giau is surely a no brainer. There is absolutely no flat between Giau and Fedia meaning a basic attack on the descent will give him a headstart on Fedaia.

Anton will gain time tomorrow, which Nibali could take back on 17 and 18 stages. Although there are flat sections after the descents.

We need local input, but as far as I remember the Fedaia descent is relatively simple apart from a few hairpins while Giau descent is more technical.

However I don't quite see a rider in a podium spot attacking with 50k to go,

Fuji's descending abilities get a bad rap. He is of course nowhere near the ability of Nibali or his Asturian teammate, but he is capable of going down a mountain better than say, Basso or Menchov.

His crash last year wasn't even his fault, rather Egoi Martinez took a spill, subsequently taking out Anton

I shall go with Menchov and Nibali clinging on with Contador after somehow Anton goes into the red?????

But today there will be 3 more climbs before the finish, that should help a Diesel like Nibali if there will be a good pace. Can't believe Anton will have enough left on the last climb after what he did today. At the finish he looked like his tank was empty...

I wonder who will get to the Cimma Coppi first. Perhaps Sastre might go in the break and try and get it. The trouble may be even if he does he might not be the best climber in the break.

WTF Cima Coppi wont be Televised?
Can We have Cima Coppi as a MTF next year??:p

Cima Coppi is always televised.

I noticed Garzelli dropped a packet of time yesterday, which is usually a precursor to him going up the road.

Break to get the end for the first time in the giro today?

I think it may be. After 2 hard days the contenders have been sorted out and stage hunters will have lost enough time to lose there danger. I can see it be a very strong break as well today specifically for that reason which obviously helps as well.

It looks like a very exciting stage yes! But I will check in later after the F1 race ends. Hope to catch the Climax.

Will you watch F1 instead of this? Don't be crazy. I tell you what will happen in F1: Vettel wins.
