They still have to knock off 4 minutes but it's going to be a more painful climb than it should have been.

Dim's site isn't any help--apparently Eurosport and La Gazzetta are both still not showing it. Gazzetta's little profile indicates that the coverage will begin aroung km 168.

6km of climbing to catch 3 minutes.

I would hate for Garzelli to seriously harm his KoM chances in such a fashion.

I hope to see some GC guys action on the last climb.
Indeed it's not very steep, but they must tired after all this racing.

Not really. He has 11 points over Contador. If he goes over 4th he'll have 14 points over him. If he goes over 1st he'll have 26 points over him (assuming Contador doesn't fight for the points).

There's only 5 available for the stage win, and there are 24 points available tomorrow. So if Garzelli wins this mountain and then a breakaway eats up the points at the stage finish, Garzelli wins the jersey.

Norwegian TV2 had an interview with Scarponi, in which 5/5 questions involved doping and Contador. You could clearly see he was getting gradually more angry before he turned around and said he didn't want to answer more questions. Also worthwhile to add that the interviewer was so nervous while asking the question that he was visibly shaking. No wonder, considering the look Scarponi gave him...

Well, that's the point. Letting 12 points slip away like that is not good. 26 points is a much safer gap.

Oh I see, I thought you meant he was wasting effort for few points when he should let it go ahead of tomorrow.

No he will be saving his legs for working his *** of in the next stages

Nah.

There aint many more mountains in this Giro. All their other team can do the work on the flat. He can save his legs and they can try for another stage win in the time trial.

Portie rich hasn't been much help in the mountain stages btw

he was never supposed to be a help in that area:

"They’re [Hernandez and Navarro] in the best form they’ve ever been in. In some ways it’s good to get the late call-up because it is a parcours that’s pretty intimidating. Alberto’s come out and said that it scares him... But it’s Alberto’s job to be scared; it’s mine to line it out a little bit in the early stuff for him – then [afterwards] there’s no pressure on me. It’s not like I’m battling for the white jersey again.

“For me personally, I’m going to go to the Giro and if I’m not needed for work, then I’m going to ride in the gruppetto. The team’s not going to ruin me,” he says, though perhaps more to reassure himself than me.

“Don’t look for me in the high mountains because I won’t be there – my job is to get [Contador] to the bottom of it.

If Garzelli gets across he has the stage won. Makes me wonder why no one else are trying to get across. Liquigas could very well set a brutal pace on the final climb.

Cherel and Tschopp also trying to get across now.
