Anyone understand this? Bert doesn't need the time, and he doesn't take the stage. If he's serious about riding the TDF, he should not being putting out any extra effort not needed to win the Giro. Why dig deep for a few extra seconds that won't make any difference?

Think he thought J-Rod or Gadret (or Nibbles) might catch Tiralongo at the line, so he went out there and dragged him to the finish.

Oh, also it was 3 more mountain points - Contador may be eying up the Grand Slam.

Ahhhh...the haters...:D

You always take time out of your opponents, tomorrow you can bonk or crash. You can have mechanicals and lose time. Come one buddy..use your head ;)

Another gift from Bertie. Seems kind of a **** move to pull back Tiralongo just to show he can and then let him win.
are you kidding?

that was pure class!

Contador wasn't showing off. he was protecting a friend to give him his first UCI win. without that extra oomph, Tira likely would have been caught just at the end.

Bertie was thanking him for all the work he did in the past.

class class class and nothing but.

chapeau to Tiralongo for long overdue glory!

Perhaps to keep the KOM jersey hopes. And, on the other hand, many people complain when the leader just wheelsuck stage after stage, so every man to his taste.

Eh, he could have just left him out there to win on his own. He doesn't need more time, he already has more than enough.

Whatever. I'm fed up with watching Contador. I was fed up with watching him two years ago. Finding out that he is going to win the Tour this year as well has ruined my day.
For as much as I don't care about Contador, I am starting to get excited about the Tour-Giro double!

Must be just me who sees a cynical ploy to Contador trying to win as many friends in the peloton with all these stage gifts.

It is hardly a win when the strongest guy gives it to you?

Yes. Another public relations gift to smooth the cracks with the locals. Rodriguez has every right to be ****ed off that he wasn't the one towed up to Tiralngo and the finish line.

Surprising comments coming from a Menchov's fan.

Oh and put me in the "Not sure on why" camp.

Couldn't care if it was "good" or "bad" though, let the fanboys dispute that. 8 seconds when you have 5 minute plus is a bit weird though.

Congrats on Tiralongo though, je looked happy.
