I watch stages like this one and I think it's a shame Rog and Visma are no longer a couple.

He was the perfect weapon for them in these types of races. You get Kruijswijk and Kelderman pulling hard like that, he'll finish the job. Simon Yates meanwhile is a different type of rider.

Simon Yates literally has only been the 5th best climber at his best climbing stage and people think he's the one gonna attack first. He's in it for the podium most likely.
If you had told me thatYates would be on the Giro podium this year with one consequential stage to go, I would have been shocked. Otoh i was also shocked that he managed a fourth in the TdF in 2023. He's such a mercurial rider, one day he's up with the best and the next he's looking really ordinary.

He has looked pretty ordinary this entire Giro.

He's third and likely to stay there so he's not doing too bad.

The overall standard of the race is not the highest - with none of cycling's stellar talents involved it's like having Wimbledon without Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic.

in the end, both got the same time, so Pellizzari was lucky that Gee was involved as well. This new rules really doesn't make much sense.
I don't think the rule is that it cannot be that only one rider gets the benefit of the allowance: it is that a rider who falls entirely on his own (therefore no-one's fault but his own) cannot benefit. That would not have described Pellizzari's situation.

I honestly think that exactly describes the Pellizzari situation: he crashed on his own because he completely overshot a corner, taking too many risks for a potential 4th place.
