this is what annoys me about HTC- they got the Magglia Rosa the first day- Cav-childish looses the sprint and yet he gets to keep the pink for the team.....

too much greed

I can understand the words. I just can't arrange them in any order to make a coherant, cogent or valid argument.

Glad I'm not the only confused one. Winning and keeping jerseys is greedy? You should let other teams win and share the jersey! Maybe we can give everyone a pink jersey just for showing up.

damn cant stand alejet purposely causing cavendish to get blocked, hopes he get dq. Making me lose my grand tour points too.

It's apparently confirmed Ale-Jet keeps the win.

Ale-Jet has been around long enough, he knows how much he can push it. He pushed it as far as he could whilst still being just fair enough to keep the win.

In a few years, Cav won't be the fastest guy around anymore. And when those days come, he's going to need to know all the tricks Ale-Jet has up his sleeve now. Except maybe the salbutamol. Given some of the things HTC have got away with over time in leadout trains, they can't complain too much.

I've seen people demoted for less (Simon at the Volta last year for example) but I've seen people get away with worse.

Good job by Petacchi, nothing wrong with his sprint..some ppl just don't know how to lose..

Hunter thinks it's ok and I agree, nothing to do with being a petacchi fan though :S Petacchi was interviewed and they congratulated him on his 22nd win and he said he actually has 27...

Robbie's had a lot of practice losing if we're honest.

I can't disagree with much of what Libertine just wrote, which is why people saying Cav's an idiot for complaining are either *** or trolling.

What is with people complaining about a "fair sprint"?! Give me a break with this nonsense already. It should be looked at as admirable to maintain such composure to even think up some tactics. It's part of the race. In my opinion, Petacchi is the better sprinter. If you're with Cav, your argument is basically "He rode his bike in front of Cavendish and beat him out to the finish line. He had the advantage to do so. He won the race... but ummm it's not fair"

PLEASE

De Greef 1:30

Nocentini 6:49

There were more, but this are notable losers today in my opinion.

It's not such a bad thing. It just shows how hungry the whole HTC team is. I was rather disappointed about Farrar. Good win for Petacchi.

nah his pronounciation has been complained about by alot of people like how people say he cant pronounce szmyd or brajkovic. But he is a great anaylst of races with some jokes too. I wish he continues to make videos.

Hoogerland said he went for stage wins and didn't care about the GC as he's probably also riding the TdF. So he didn't want to dig deep every stage.
This is a good way to start losing some time so they will let him go more easily I'd say :)

Now you're just being silly.

I mean today. He won the race. He didn't push him, grab him, headbutt him. He rode his bike in front of him, blocked him out, and beat him. Cavendish reacted too late. And lost the race. Too bad. Faster is not always better. What a little baby Cav is. He wants the world to lay down his path to the line for him. Please. Maybe you should get out and work your legs for more than 50m next time.

Alejet and everyone who thinks this is a clear-cut issue.

Having watched the video, I have to say that I didn't see anything that was displayed in there that matched up with what Ale-Jet did.

Maybe I should have yet another look at todays sprint, but I just don't see how Cavendish was endangeroured by Petacchis way of riding. He had absolutly enough space, and once Cav was on Ale-Jets side, the latter did not try to cut his line any more! And that's what's dangerous bike riding, especially if it happens close to the barries as it could be seen in the video.
I don't see any of this in Ale-Jets Sprint today.
He used the usual weapons of buch-sprinting, nothing else. And those are not "unfair" but very much part of the game which are legetimised by everyone using them.
The only reason I see for Cav's complaining is that he still is a very bad looser. Probably even a very bad one indeed.

this tricks are pretty saddening. I think what petacchi did was worst than what renshaw did to farrar in 2010 tour. Its another one of my reasons why I dont really like sprints.

I take it you hate Robbie McEwen then?

Seriously, this was worse than headbutting people then trying to put them in the barriers?

Ale-Jet sure boxed Cav in, but he left him enough room.

I don't really like sprints either, but whining about somebody using guile, nous and wit to win ahead of somebody with brute force but none of the above is not my modus operandi.

What complete nonsense. Petacchi VERY CLEARLY deviated from a straight line, and forced Cav to check his sprint.

Despite checking his sprint twice, cav was clearly faster that Petacchi, and would have easily beaten him if the sprint had been contested clean.

HTC had every right to protest, though it was unlikely that the result would be overturned - because even though Petacchi changed lines, it was debatable how dangerous the move was.
