Greipel to win the stage with his new gorilla themed bike & holding up nine or ten (I've lost count of the wins) fingers and thumbs in an inoffensive salute.

But for most of the stage, I'll be cheering for the break to stay away.

Edit: He's already got ten victories, so maybe he'll do ten plus one at the line?

2010 Victories

* Five stage wins and points jersey at Tour of Turkey
* Stage winner of Volta ao Algarve (held yellow jersey)
* Stage win at Challenge Mallorca
* Three stage wins of Tour Down Under

Didn't he win GC at Tour Down Under as well?

This is one for Greipel. Henderson will be busy in the Sky train today and won't have enough power to win. Farrar will get second as usual.
Petacchi is only going to start pumping in Italy :D
So yeah probably Greipel for two wins today and tomorrow, in the pink.
Only to lose it to Farrar or Henderson after TTT :p

I'm going to say Greipel, since I can assume that his lead out train is the best in the business...

or is it?

With Cav at the Tour of California - and wait, all those other guys...wait..theyre at the tour of California!

And upon reviewing the respective start lists the Tour of California seems more competitive than the Giro this year!!!

Or is this my imagination?

Your imagination.
A stacked Shack and Saxo, but the home grown half of the field?
No Frank Schleck and Rabo have managed to find another watery squad to send abroad.
A good cast of sprinters, though.
Interesting. I thought the mid May idea was all about mountains...........

Anyhow, I think we have to wait for tomorrow's stage for any Northern fireworks.

Hello! This is my first post in here after having read along for some time :)

Like many others I think Greipel will take it today. He looks in great form - despite him being ill - and will definately be fired up because of the chance of grabbing the maglia rosa.

Farrar 2nd, Petacchi 3rd.

It will be interesting to see how Henderson does today. After all he looks to be in good form, will definately be fired up and will have a lot of confidence. I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting 2nd or 3rd to be honest but I think he'll come in 4th. Modolo will round off the top 5.

Sky won't want to lose pink so Henderson has to contest the bunch sprint. So they will hold him back and a couple of others. On a flat stage such as this, they won't need to do much work as nearly all teams will want a bunch sprint.

1. Griepel
2. Petacchi
3. Farrar
4. McEwen
5. Henderson

Does that mean Andre the Giant gets the pink?

Yep! I hope Garmin win with farrar. Greipel needs to stick with his train and not get lost, as against guys like pettachi and farrar, you can't come back by them from 5 bike lengths back. That's why Pettachi is my tip.

There will be mass falls and echelons! In the end Van Emden wins in front of Kruijswijk and Mollema
