My favorite quote ever was when he said something to the effect of "Not only am I the fastest man in the peloton, but I am also the best looking." Followed closely by "I have a room in my house where I keep all of my beautiful things." Cav will never touch that kind of style.

Hey, they did create the "Mod" look. Wigans has made that look...well....he didn't make it popular or anything....but at least now people recognize it....I guess that says something....

Your mileage may vary. I think he was flamboyant AND obnoxious, and also a big jerk. And gods, was he campy and tacky.

I get what you're saying but I wouldn't call Cav flamboyant. He certainly does have the sprinter attitude and inspires a lot of discussion, though. Kind of with you on Farrar - not a big fan of either rider myself. Anyway, back to the race...

I think the initial idea that "flamboyant" is just an obnoxious person that you like is correct.

Yeah, you might like them because of their "style"... but that's just a preference thing. Just because you prefer their brand of obnoxious behavior doesn't make it better in any objective way.
