vdv prefers to be a helper then a leader. Evans would have his support and the teams. Even with farrar would be a much better option.

I thought vaughters was wanting cvv to aim for podium at the tour.

BMC is not gonna lose a lot of time today, there are no great TTT squads on the line and the course is pretty easy. Sky might take a minute from them but i don't see how the other teams who don't have much depth either(like BMC) doing that. HTC had a hell of a TT team last year(a class above every team in 2010) and even a weak team like Milram finished within 50 seconds over 20km. I wouldnt be surprised if BMC finishes close to Liquigas and not more than 35 seconds behind Astana.

I agree with some of the above posters that the rain probably helps reduce the gaps, provided the 'wet-ness' stays constant. Teams will have to be more careful and lower speeds mean lower gaps.

i agree completely. rabo is underestimated by almost everyone. I see them in the top 5 at least.

I don't know...

I named them as my 5th favorite team in the OP, but I'm starting to re-think that. I based that largely on the strong performance the Rabo riders collectively put in in the prologue, but I'm re-thinking that now.

Very likely Rabobank was the only team where everyone was giving 100% effort in the prologue, whereas riders on other teams that didn't have a shot at a stage win didn't go flat out, either because of the wet-ish conditions or just cause they wanted to spare their energy... Now all the teams will be pushing it, and I'm decreasingly sure that Rabo can raise their game even further. We'll see, but I'm inching towards Scirea with his estimate that 8th-10th is probably more likely.

It is a really young team, but the other teams aren't all that great either. It's hard to judge. They could be anywere between 5 and 15

yeah it's hard to say. They certainly wont win anyway. 5-10 is likely. Wouldn't surprise me if it was lower though.

I have a weird feeling Rabo is going to have a mishap (read that as crash). I don't know why, and I certainly hope not!! But for some reason....

i think that the dutch fans are too pessimistic.

true that rabo does not have the big engines appropriate for the course similar to gamin etc but that hardly would matter because no team, none have the 5 evenly balanced riders...except rabo :). so they will have to calibrate their pace...except rabo :)

BMC just rolled out. It looks MOIST out there.

And now Rai is just showing two cute girls in the back of some car somewhere. I love Italian telly.

At ttt start, Cuneo

It is already raining. With the rain, it will be more ideal for the more rehearsed teams.

If you don't like evans and think he is a grump, well maybe you should have a look at this

More recon for the BMC boys http://tweetphoto.com/22084904

Good luck boys!

acf94: Thanks for the link. That's really cool. I'm definitely rooting for Cadel in the Giro over the likes of Vino and Basso.

Gazzetta TV is doing a round-up and showed a clip of Evans in the pink whinging about something. It was in Italian, but it was the stereotypical "Hey, [why you gotta do thatta] eh?" to a journo, I think. :D
