i would normally root for the dutchies, but looking at yesterday's performances and at today's finish, i'll go with a colombian - an impressive duarte for the win !

I don't know how Duarte climbs, but if he hangs on friday, I think he'll win there instead.

If this was Turkey Petacchi would hold on. But maybe the pace will be too much in the Giro.

We've hardly seen Ventoso so who knows how he is going. Visconti is obviously off the pace at the moment. Vicioso is probably the best chance of the V men.

A random from the bunch to win it.

Both Vicioso and Ventoso were the better placed of the sprinters yesterday so if its a big peloton and they are there I can see them placing well.

Not a bad group that, can't see them holding on though.

I wonder if Millar and Wilson will have a whinge about the long straight roads they have for today's stage. They ought to find something to complain about.

Rabobank will control the gap but I'm not sure who's going to chase this down

Most of the likely candidates either have a rider in the break or don't really have the team to do it. Maybe depends on whether HTC think Cavendish has a chance

Lampre will work for Petacchi, probably.

Maybe they will contibute 1 or 2 riders to a chase if other teams help but their team is really based around Scarponi (apart from Hondo for the lead out)

Yeah but Contador used up Porte and Morkov. Pity some riders are'nt here but that should go on worst line up thread. I shall go Ventoso, Petacchi, Pineau, Le Mevel and suprise someone fro OPL, or another team, but specifically OPL. Just a thought.

He didn't use them up. Porte crashed and Morkov rode in with Porte who took it easy the rest of the day.

Popo is 5.35 behind so Rabobank probably wont let the gap get above that, meaning anyone else who starts chasing will be pulling back 5 rather than 10 or more minutes. Might actually be in Rabo's interests to keep a bit below 5 minutes to encourage others to chase later on, otherwise they could be doing all the work themselves.
