Glava Tour of Norway starts on Wednesday, with a slightly stronger field than last year. It's the 2nd time the race is ridden as a 2.1 race. Last year, EBH won a popular home victory after failing to win any sprints, but taking the queen stage in a dominating manner. The amount of spectators was obviously incredible for a 2.1 race, as Norwegians are more than averagely interested in showing off their flag and cheering for their countrymen...Some names to note are defending champion EBH, Nordhaug, Theo Bos, Bauke Mollema, Sep Vanmarcke, Lars Boom, Alexander Kristoff and of course Amets Txurruka :)D).

The stages

Stage 1, Fredrikstad - Sarpsborg (190 km).

Some small hills in the final, but certainly a bunch sprint. My pick: Theo Bos.

Stage 2, Kongsberg - Skien (179 km)

Abit more hilly, but will still end up in a bunch sprint. My pick: Alex Kristoff.

Stage 3, Tønsberg - Drammen (163 km).

Completely flat stage. The most interesting part is that it's held on Norway's national day, 17th of May. That means a lot of spectators dressed in our national bunad with Norwegian flags everywhere. Conveniently, it's also EBH's birthday. However, he won't win. My prediction: Theo Bos (obviously).

Stage 4, Brumundal - Lillehammer (195 km)

This is where the race will be decided. Last year the peloton was completely shattered on this stage as Nordhaug destroyed the peloton for Edvald on the final climb, before EBH attacked on the descent and won easily. This year the two of them are riding against each other, which will provide more excitement for sure. My pick: EBH.

Stage 5, Gjøvik - Hønefoss (173 km).

This stage is quite hilly aswell. Last year this stage ended up in a surprisingly large bunch sprint, which has lead to the organizers making the stage a little harder this time. However, I still think there'll be a sprint, although a small one. Maybe 20 riders or so. My pick: Alexander Kristoff.

Favourites for the overall:

*****: Edvald Boasson Hagen
****: Lars Petter Nordhaug, Bauke Mollema
***: Kristoff, Txurruka, Ciolek.
**: Hinault, Rasch, Nicki Sørensen.

The race will be live on Eurosport. If I'm not mistaken it might ever be on ES 1, instead of the Giro (because we all know that ToN > Giro :p)

Sounds good. Pity there is no Simon Clarke, but oh well.
Nordhaug i think should take this, last year he rode so well for EBH, this year there are no such barriers.

The problem for Nordhaug is that EBH can probably take at least half a minute from him from that last climb to the finish. The descent is quite technical and then there's a long drag on the flat. There is a steep ramp in the last kilometre as well, but it's probably not long enough to get rid of EBH.

Perhaps stage 5 would be a better opportunity for Nordhaug. It doesn't look very hard when you just glance at the profile, but the climb includes a ridiculously steep ramp, so anything could happen.

However, I heard that EBH is in extremely good shape...taking a break after the classics has clearly improved his form.

Caja Rural - Seguras RGA team:

ANDONOV PETROV Danail
ARAMENDIA Javier Francisco
CARDOSO Andre Fernando S. Martins
DOMAGALSKI Karol
FERRARI Fabricio
LASCA Francesco
MORENO Francisco Javier
TXURRUKA Amets

Wouldn't mind any of these taking a win on telly.

And whats up with the MSR winner, Ciolek? On semi vacation now?

Valgren, what can he do against this level of competition? Just won the Fleche du Sud GC. Different ballgame perhaps.

Ciolek was supposed to start, but has been taken off the startlist for some reason.

It's strange for Txurruka to go on the attack, with such a weak field he could add another overall win to his impressive tally of one overall win.

Norway must be pushing this to get it covered live, would liked to see this put back week and fill that gap of racing alongside the giro.

It's live now on Eurosport 1.

The pictures are horrible at the moment though.

Exactly. I gave it just around three minutes and decided to switch back to the giro, absolutely not worth watching picture-wise:(

It's not worth watching racing-wise either, at least not until stage 4 at which point they hopefully have fixed the problem.

Haha, I tuned in for the final few hundred meters. Kristoff by far the strongest, could win a few more stages in this race.

Hopefully this commentator won't be calling him Kristoffs for the entire race.

He also said the home crowd would be disappointed that Kristoff won.
