The 2009 Tour was worse than any other GT in the last 20 years and belongs below the 2012 Giro in the pantheon of races. Absolutely hideous.

The 2012 Vuelta was also better received than it ought to be because the three Spaniards and Froome (plus later in the race Nairo Quintana) racing up muritos for two weeks was already more action than we'd had in the 2012 Giro and Tour combined. If those two races aren't as bad as they were, the 2012 Vuelta doesn't look half as good.

I think this is selling Fuente De a bit short. But then they failed to televise that so fair enough...

I'm actually surprised we haven't seen Bola del Mundo or Cuitu Negru since.

2010 Tour, 2012 Vuelta, 2014 Vuelta, 2015 Tour and 2015 Vuelta are on the kill list. Then 2019 Tour.

Hurt: 2015 Vuelta
Heal: 2015 Giro

But people were already sold on the race and hyping it before Fuente Dé happened. Fuente Dé just gave it that mythical stage that took it above just being a race that people were happy about and enjoying for what it was. Just the fact there was a GC battle at all meant people were already positively disposed to the race because the 2012 Giro featured all the GC guys trying not to race each other and the 2012 Tour had been designed for Wiggins to win even before we realised he was strong enough that he'd probably have won on most routes that year, at least with Froome's wings being clipped.

For the last couple of rounds I'm voting based on the standings, so if a race I think is overrated is ahead of a race which is underrated then I vote accordingly to it.

I would say 2012 Vuelta was better than 2019 Tour. 2019 Tour had some shocking stages such as Planche des Belles Filles, Tourmalet or Val Thorens. And it didn't have a stage like Fuente De. We also had a decent stage to Valdezcaray in 2012 Vuelta thanks to crosswinds.

The 2014 Vuelta and 2010 Tour weren't pqrticularly good, though, yet they're still thriving for some reason.
2010 Tour was good imo, had good stages such as the cobbled stage, the stage with Madeleine or the one to Mende. 2014 Vuelta was really bad indeed.

I am struggling to see why 2018 Giro is so high as it was rather ordinary with the exception of 2 stages.

Yates being good then bad, and Froome being bad then good, sort of meant that there was gc action throughout the three weeks, to an extent that you don't see too often.
