The amount of riders that achieved a certain thing doesn't mean anything.
A guy like Kelly achieved so much that no other rider had doen before.
But it's clear that a) you really don't like Kelly or b) you really underestimate classics and smaller stageraces

Armstrong imo does deserve to be in the poll.

Not only because its wrong to have Indurain and Kelly in there and not Armstrong.

But also because it reminds people that Armstrong was not the best cyclist ever, as was always claimed, not even close.

His 7 tours a FW and a worlds were enough to get him into the top 10.

But Eddy, Hinault, Coppi, Anquetil, Bartali and Indurain were all better. Contador will soon be making that list too.

Edit, and as GPdesAmeriques points out, Vos of course.

Well, are you basing this on actual ability or what the individual could do with EPO and blood transfusions? Because Lance never was good at climbing or TT's before he met Dr.Ferrari. So, are you suggesting he be rated based on whatever crap he pumped into his veins?

Before you say but most people doped, manipulating oxygen vectors is completely different and trumps everything, talent, training, and all other doping products. A talented rider can compete with someone on steroids and amphetamines but EPO and blood transfusion can turn a donkey into a champion.

Also, are you proposing results be given to all riders even though they have been stripped by the federations?

would be nice to see a poll of "best ever" for the cyclists that are considered to have been either clean or fairly close to clean...i've only been following the sport for around 5 years but have researched enough to know that a lot of the names on this poll are a million miles from having been clean.

A talented rider can compete with someone on EPO as well, even if the difference in talent has to be greater. You're drawing an arbitrary line here just to exclude good old Lance.

was close, but I chose Other - Marianne Vos, shes only 26 and wins just about everything, including track and cyclocross.

And got 11th place in the first round World Cup XCO MTB, starting dead last a couple weeks ago.

Well i wasn't thinking outside Road Cycling, but Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå and Julien Absalon have utterly dominated their speciality.
